1 out of 5 stars Kuhn Rikon Corn Zipper, stainless   September 2, 2008

I did not like this product at all. It did not work.
It was a waste of money.

1 out of 5 stars A disappointment   August 26, 2008

I use raw corn in many of my salads and I looked forward to having a handy device to strip the kernels off the cob. What a disappointment this gadget is! It absolutely mangles the kernels. I'm back to using a knife, which at least produces whole kernels, rather than tearing them up or squashing them.

I wanted to like this product, but in fact I'm very disappointed. As others have noted, you can only remove a row or two at a time - and only if the row of kernels is straight. If the row isn't straight, the "zipper" snags. It's also difficult to use because the ear of corn is hot and it's painful to grip the ear and work the zipper. Instead, I'd recommend the "corn cob cutter slicer stripper knife." While it isn't perfect, it gets the job done better than with a knife, and without sending part of your dinner all over the table.

It was difficult to use and overpriced. It is especially hard for anyone having arthritis to control this item. I would not recommend it to anyone!

5 out of 5 stars Love it!!   August 13, 2008

I never make corn on the cob because I hate to eat it right off the cob...too messy and too much stuff in my teeth afterwards. So I ran across this at TJ Maxx last night and had to get it ($8.99). First I made some ovenroasted corn (350F for 30 min, leave husk on and don't add anything...the best, sweetest corn ever), and then pulled the husks back and held onto them while pulling the zipper towards me. WOW! Even my husband said that it was a very cool tool and he couldn't believe how easily 2 rows of corn feel onto my plate. I don't know what the other reviewers mean when saying you only get part of the corn....mine were perfect and the only thing left behind was the cob, and it only took me about 30 sec. I wonder if the difference could be in how the corn was cooked?
The Kuhn Rikon quality is wonderful.
