Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
The beloved chef Emeril Lagasse has teamed up with renowned cutlery company Wusthof to create Emerilware knives--a collection designed to deliver great performance without breaking the bank. Crafted in Wusthof's German factories, Emerilware knives feature blades that are laser-cut from high-carbon German steel. This material is durable, handsome, and stain-resistant, as well as excellent at retaining a sharp edge. Emerilware knife handles are ergonomic in shape with a nonslip grip and sport the Wusthof trident insignia at the end. All Emerilware knives are stamped on the blade with both the Emeril signature and the Wusthof logo, making them great gifts for Emeril fans.

This Emerilware set includes a bamboo cutting board and an 8-inch chef's knife for the daily workhorse jobs of chopping, mincing, and dicing. The cutting board is fashioned from bamboo, which is both highly durable and easier on the environment than many hardwoods. The design combines comfortable rounded edges, a subtle striped surface, and the Wusthof logo. For best maintenance, both knife and cutting board should be washed and dried by hand. --Emily Bedard

1 out of 5 stars Low-end quality for a Wusthof knife   August 10, 2008

I have several Wusthof kitchen knives and this one is obviously a cheap knife with the Wusthof name. No rivets, the blade does not run the length of the knife. Hollow plastic handle. Lightweight. Not a forged blade. CHEAP. Looks like a Chinese knockoff. Emeril is a joke. You should only buy the high-end Wusthof knives with rivets on the handle. This knife is not worth $40 or even $10. YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

3 out of 5 stars Better knives out there   August 4, 2008

I ordered both the slicer and the bread knife in this line, and I was disappointed in the quality of the knife. It has a thin, flexible blade, and the slicer is much worse than the bread knife in this line. In addition, the board is so small that it really is useless to me.

I gave it three stars because the price was right ($14) and that is about what this knife is worth. Nevertheless, I returned it. There are much better knives at this price point ... including OXO and Victronox. Spend a little more and get Anolon, which I love.

Don't let the Wusthof name fool you. Don't let the Emeril name fool you either. The knife is a POS -- a piece of crap.

3 out of 5 stars Just ok, if I had seen it first I probably wouldn't have bought it.   July 15, 2008

The knife is VERY light weight. The cutting board is very small. I don't think it is worth the $29.99 I paid for it. I bought this to replace the Calphalon 8" Chef's knife that my hubby broke while chipping away at frozen ground meat (I know, how ridiculous!), but this knife is not of comparable quality.

5 out of 5 stars As advertised   June 23, 2008

The knife is great but the bamboo board is just OK. Overall a good deal for twenty two dollars.
