Dried out wood loses its luster and can crack. Maintain its health with regular applications of wood oil.

5 out of 5 stars LongLastingProducttMaintenance   October 3, 2008

Dear Amazon:
By way of your association with Williams-Sonoma, through whom I purchased a beautiful birch pastry board, I found the need for your Snow River Oil, with which to make and keep it beautiful during my winter season baking routines. Thank you for the phenomenon of secure, one-stop-shopping on the internet. Fantastic quality.
Best always.

4 out of 5 stars Mineral oils are same   September 6, 2008
Y. Cho (Columbus, OH)
I compared this Snow River Wood oil with other more expensive mineral oils, like John boo's.
Only difference is just a thickness. John Boos oil is thicker, so it does a better job with one coat.
If you apply this oil twice, there is no difference.
It's very easy to apply to any wood surface. And the treated surface is very water repellent for a long time.
The color of end grain gets much darker than plain grains.

After trying three different mineral oils, I found that basically all mineral oils are same. So I don't need to buy these expensive ones. Just go to any drug store and buy food safe mineral oil with a fraction of cost.

When mixing pure Bee wax in this oil(use heat), I could get a much better finished surface and a real good sweet smell too.

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   August 25, 2008

Used this on wood pizza board and butcher block. Absorbs well and no residue or taste.

5 out of 5 stars Great wood protection!   June 2, 2008
J. Wozniak (Sacramento, Ca, USA)
I use this on my wooden carving board and it works great. It penetrates really well and there's barely anything on the paper towel when I wipe it off again. It also seems to help repel water and meat juices, which protects my board from staining, and makes washing and drying my board very easy.

I have used three diff brands - Tru Bamboo, Snow River and John Boos. I like the last one ( John Boos )the best. It is thicker than the other two. It does a better coating job.
