Epicurean makes its cutting boards in the USA of Richlite, a natural compressed wood-fiber laminate made from sustainably harvested trees. Many contemporary kitchens today feature entire countertops made from Richlite. The multi-functional surface won't dull knives, stain, or retain odors; resists bacteria growth; is heat-resistant to 350 degrees F, which means hot pans can be place on it without leaving a brown ring; requires no oiling; and is dishwasher-safe and approved by the National Sanitary Foundation (NSF). A creative design approach for the home chef, this modular system consists of two cutting boards, each different, that can be used independently or interlocked in four different ways. Both boards are flat and smooth on one side for everyday food preparation tasks. The flip side of one is cut with a groove around the perimeter, ideal for catching juices when slicing roasts or fruit such as watermelon; and the flip side of the other is cut with parallel, horizontal grooves that can be use as guides for slicing bread or as a drain board into an under-mounted sink. A proficient gourmet needs a food preparation surface that is large enough to accommodate robust recipes, versatile enough to prepare any cuisine, and capable of fitting in the dishwasher and storing easily. Inspired by restaurant chefs and designed with utility and usefulness in mind, this two-piece modular cutting board set has a large flat prep area on one side of each surface. On the opposite sides, a juice groove accompanies one half, and a dual-purpose juice run and bread surface is on the other. The juice run can be used next to under-mount sinks to let the juice drain handily into the sink. The two halves of the cutting surface are independent and two-sided, so you can put them together in a variety of configurations to fit your specific food preparation needs; each piece can also be used efficiently alone. The cutting boards are made from an environmentally friendly natural wood fibre composite, used by chefs and commercial kitchens for over 40 years. The cutting surface won't dull knives and is extremely durable; it is dishwasher safe and heat resistant to 350 F. As well, the non-porous surface prevents the growth of bacteria and unwanted food odours.
