super-satisfied October 30, 2008 J. Garcia (central texas) i wanted to stop using bottled water containers and i felt that this filtration system might be the way to go. i have not been disappointed. the water coming thru the filter is fresh and tastes great. i've compared the filtered water with non-filtered taps in my house and you can really tell the difference.
Broke after 3 months, filters last just a few weeks October 11, 2008 A. Johnson (Illinois, USA) Our house has hard water, so we purchased the PUR Plus Faucet Filtration System in hopes of making our water taste better. It succeeded in that, and that alone. The filter goes bad FAST. We bought our first new filter after about 10 weeks of use (we're just 2 people and we're rarely home). About a week after our new filter was in place, the unit developed a leak from the indicator window. This wasn't so bad. Then came the spraying! A near-inch long crack appeared on the front, and it sprays water in a horizontal column at the user! Other negatives: *As the filter reaches the end of its lifespan, water comes out of the unit slower.. and sloooweer. *The filter completely stops working when the filter is considered "done" by the unit. I found this most ridiculous of all: it just STOPS letting you use it when it decides the filter's no good! Who says the filter is no good? An internal mechanism that knows nothing about the quality of the water going through it? This is obviously a ploy to sell more filters! Avoid this water filter!
Faucet Mount Cracked October 11, 2008 Joni Vain The Faucet Mount was purchased in early May. By mid September the Faucet Mount had severely cracked in no less then two places, water sprayed out of the sides, rendering the item completely useless. It is noted that during this time period, considerable money was saved, and an individual's environmental footprint was reduced, because bottled water was not purchased. The Mount was properly installed, and was only used while the facet was in the position for cold water use. During the 3-4 months of use, the Faucet Mount worked well, and one could clearly tell the difference between the filtered and unfiltered water. The replaceable filter, did have a life of about two months (which was stated by the manufacturer). Individual replaceable filters are about half the cost of the Faucet Mount Filter. However, the short life of the housing unit of the Faucet Mount, which is plastic, reveals that the overall craftsmanship is shoddy, and long-term durability was not a factor in design. This item gets a low rating mainly because of the lack of long-term durability.
Housing Cracked September 28, 2008 Agent Cooper (Baton Rouge, Louisiana United States) After several months of use (< 6) the housing developed multiple hairline cracks that allow water to spew all over the place. WHAT A MESS! This thing is not worth the money. I've tried covering the cracks with epoxy putty but no use. The water just finds another way out. STAY AWAY FROM THIS THING!
Good Water, LONG Wait August 20, 2008 Robby Thompson (Brooklyn, NY United States) This filter worked great for about the first week of use. Our water tested better in a blind taste-test and seemed cleaner. Unfortunately, after one week, the filtration process got slower and slower and SLOWER. At first, a glass of water took 5 seconds, then 10, and then like 20-30 seconds. It got so bad we started putting a 1 gallon jug under the filter and waited 1-3 hours for a gallon of filtered water! Not only that, but the filter replacement indicator says the filter is just fine and doesn't need to be replaced (as it shouldn't, being only 1 month old). Also, the filter does take up a bit of space on your faucet, so you may want to consider an alternative if you have a small sink.
