I purchased this file/safe recently and find it to be an excellent choice. From other reviews, I was concerned about its arrival in good condition, but it was flawless. The locking mechanism is easy to use, and although it is heavy, it is still quite portable. All our important papers fit well in hanging files. We are not planning a fire or flood to test it out, but we feel protected.

I'm sure this would do the job in flood or fire. If you never want to move it from a corner of your closet, buy it. Otherwise, do more research, as it is extremely heavy and has no handles. Big PITA to move about.

i was going to buy a slightly cheaper model from another company until i read a few bad reviews and decided to go with this one instead. don't know if those reviews were fair/accurate, but i'm very happy with what i paid for. solid and well-built.

Exactly what I was looking for! A safe place to store important papers. Not fancy, not expensive, Just functional. As listed! I would give this product a 4 and 1/2 star rating!

I bought 2 of these, one for me and one as a christmas gift for my father. When I took it out of the box, the entire locking mechanism fell off the case and a bunch of foamy/cardboardy stuff began to crumble on the floor. I panicked thinking, how am I going to send this heavy thing back.. but I just pushed it back on and it stuck in place. The stuff that fell out must've been the fire proof material obviously, but I never expected it to just fall off like that. Well, it's no so much for locking out others, but at least it should keep things from burning in a fire. fingers and toes crossed. Also, just enough space for some important documents, but not much. I didn't expect too much since it really wasn't all that expensive. I guess it's ok for the overall cost.
