4 out of 5 stars Pretty useful   November 3, 2008

It's pretty sturdy (especially compared to the wooden models). My only complaint is that there aren't more surface drying platforms, similar to the top of this piece.

since i only hang my towels on this rack, so its still ok. but if u want to hang lots of stuff, then i recommend u may have to go for a wood made one.

5 out of 5 stars Best clothes dryer I've used   October 19, 2008

I'm so glad I bought two. I have been very frustrated at the last 3 racks I've bought and was ready to give up until I saw this one. It's the sturdiest and the rods are thick enough to not leave creases on my clothing. I absolutely love it.

3 out of 5 stars 10 dowels, 21.5 feet --not 24.5--of drying space   October 12, 2008

Product description is inaccurate. There are 10 dowels (not 11) and there is only 21.5 feet of drying space. Not the "24.5 inches" in text description.

Had I known this when ordering I would have purchased the larger size.

It's lightweight, but sturdy, and takes up relatively little space when folded up.

FYI: If you've never used a dryer rack before, you'll be surprised how much it DOES NOT hold. Although this is wide (26.5 in) you can only put two pairs of say men's underwear on a dowel and they will likely overlap.

And unless you wear tiny thongs, you won't get quite as much on these units as you think, for women's underwear. (And remember, you need some room for air ...the more that you load it down, the longer it will take to dry.)

Living in a cramped NYC apartment, we're using these only because our building's gas is shut off and the dryers in our basement laundry don't work. (Schlepping clothes to a laundromat, not an option. Paying a fortune to places that do laundry--also not an option.)

Allow at least a day or more (depending on temperature, humidity) for drying. Would probably work best in any room that has air flow (from windows) or in winter, near a heat source.

We saved maybe $8 for 4 loads of laundry. But the hassle of using so much space for so long...very inconvenient. Would probably work great in houses with spare rooms, etc. But then, why wouldn't you use a dryer anyway?

We have no space to fit in one of those small units even if it were allowed, which it isn't.

We are SOOO jealous of anyone who has their own washer and dryer and can wash and dry whenever they want!

i bought this rack after our little wooden one cracked. this one was cheaper than others i saw on amazon, and seemed to get good reviews. after having used it, i'd have to agree. it's a good, sturdy folding rack.
