Product Description In ?kami, the legendary monster Orochi has come back to life and turned the world into a veritable wasteland. Players must assume the role of a wolf, an embodiment of the sun god Amaterasu, which is capable of wielding unimaginable power. The state of the world lies in your hands as you must fight ominous beings and reclaim the earth from a curse that plagues it. It is crucial to help Amaterasu make the world a place where all living creatures can dwell once again. Defeating the creatures that Amaterasu encounters will not be a small feat. The real-time fighting system not only involves biting and ramming strikes, but also allows for various attacks using bronze mirror of Yata on its back as well as a host of other unique abilities. This system allows the usage of a myriad of specials attacks typically not associated with the physical prowess of a normal wolf. As the wolf becomes more powerful, more attacks become available. This blend of stylized graphics and unique gameplay will result in a rich and dynamic experience never seen before. Traditional Japanese art comes alive through beautiful scenic 3D levels Rooted in the third person perspective, you will need to interact with the people you encounter, building their faith by clandestinely answering their prayers and wishes

Okami review November 17, 2008 Brian M Hahn This is a great game, really enjoyed it. The wii pointing controls during the magic brush moments is difficult to use though.
Okami: PS2 vs Wii November 16, 2008 yueki (NYC) Okami is a wonderful game and reminiscent of games such as Zelda. A vibrant and visually unique game set in a world seemingly pulled out of a painting. You play as the white wolf Amaterasu, a reincarnation of the sun goddess, and travel across the land of Nippon "purifying" locations of demons and a plague curse. Another aspect I love about this game is the dialogue. Unlike most Japanese games that need translating from Japanese to English, the dialogue in this game is funny and amusing (at least I think so). If you have this game for PS2 already and are happy with it I would say the Wii version isn't worth getting. The biggest different between the Wii version of this game from the PS2 version is the use of the Wii-mote to draw your brush strokes. What I had found from playing both versions is that the brush strokes are harder to draw accurately on the Wii version. I guess that would seem surprising to most, being that the cool part of the Wii version was the drawing aspect of the game. I suppose with practice this wouldn't be much of a problem but from experience, if you have the PS2 version, just stick with it.
A work of art November 4, 2008 Michael Hall (Olympia, WA United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this game for my son, a creative, somewhat non-violent (although Halo-loving), D&D playing 14-year old. He loves it to death and for good reason: it is absolutely the most beautiful, wonderful game we've ever seen. The professional reviews say it better than I could, but really there's no substitute for seeing it. I don't know how much I'll play it because, frankly, I like to run around and shoot stuff and this game has a lot more planning/figuring and less "conflict." And the wolf fights stuff like plants -- so it's family-friendly, too. Mostly it's beautiful. I watch the kid play without really knowing what's going on and that's just fine with me.

I actually bought this for my wife to play she LOVES it... good news for me because I can watch football now
Fantastic! September 13, 2008 H. Raspet (LA, CA) I cannot believe I missed this game the first time around. I rented this game and after one day of playing, realized I must buy it instead! I'm tired of all the games being short enough to beat in the 5 days I can rent the game for. Finally, there's a new game that is taking me on an adventure and is beautifully created as well. The game is very similar, mission-wise, to the Zelda series. There's the monsters you fight and side-quest to take, skills to learn, people to talk to, towns to help out, etc. I'm still playing this game (haven't beat it yet!) and it's just fantastic. I haven't have any problems described in other reviews about the game not recognizing brush techniques, etc. I think maybe there's just a learning curve and you have to make sure your sensor is positioned right and is clean too!
