Pros and cons.... November 5, 2008 S. Williams (Georgetown, SC United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I purchased a Hoover carpet shampooer recently, and was very pleased with performance and quality, so naturally I looked at Hoover's line of vacuums. The price for the canister was a bit much, I thought---but I liked the idea of the freedom it offered, having had uprights for the last 10 years. My first impression was that the quality of the plastic wasn't there, so only 3 stars--for example, if you open the top to reveal the two small attachments (the other two: floor/brush and upholstery won't fit anywhere), the lid seems like it wouldn't take much pressure to accidently snap it off. Also, when it arrived, the plastic window covering wasn't attached--no problem, it snapped right in---but it left me with an unsettled feeling about my purchase. The good news is that it's pretty easy to roll, the handle is adjustable, and for the first time in ages I can actually vacuum under my bed :) I also like the way the canister secures the handle; it doesn't take much more room than the upright. The suction is good, as I haven't seen my carpet's nap in a while; it's around 5 years old. Overall, I think if it were priced a little less or the plastic was more durable, I'd feel better...but with both Hoover products, my carpet is looking more like its old 'new' self.
Hoover S3670 Anniversary WindTunnel Bagged Canister-Excellent Vac! October 16, 2008 Cindy Andrews (Flintville, Tn United States) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
It's been a long road to get to this particular vacuum. About a year ago, I bought a used Filter Queen that was touted as the best canister on market. I hated it from the start, would just push objects across the carpet instead of picking them up. DREADED using it, it was so cumbersome and didnt have any modern features, such as auto cord rewind. So finally was able to sell that, even lost a few bucks on deal but just wanted it out of the house. Then I bought what I thought I wanted, a Sears model. Have had a Sears Progressive before but the quick release feature broke on it (a piece of plastic inside tube, could not be fixed) and now it was quick releasing too quickly..... So I thought that would be a good choice but once I got it home, it just seemed flimsy and cheap. Didn't even work so well. So back to the store it went. Seems Sears products are getting flimsier and are not the same quality as of just a few years ago. Did a bunch of internet research and came upon this Hoover model. Was not even aware that other vacuums, other than Sears, had the quick release feature. This is my major requirement, and was pleased to find another option than Sears. All reviews I found spoke highly of this vacuum, so I ordered it sight unseen and it arrived yesterday. Well I am most pleased!!! Just taking it out of the box the quality seemed superior to the Sears model I had just returned. Also very sharp looking, and it works great!! Super long cord, telescopic wand, really generous sized hardwood floor attachment and it also has this odd shaped onboard brush attachment , that I am in love with. It is the perfect shape to clean your baseboards and with your adjustable wand, there is no need for alot of uncomforable bending. Great for a tall gal! So I am now a very happy neat freak, finally have a vacuum I am happy with and look forward to using!!!

this is a very mobile, conveniently made vacuum. the suction power is good, especially on FLAT bare floors, the rotating brush cleans carpet and rugs thoroughly, and the adjustable arm is great. i wish the suction was a bit stronger and that the vacuum felt a bit more indestructible and had a bit more heft in the arm as it tends to pull it's self off the ground with suction. i have been through three vacuums in the past three years and am pretty hard on them. so far this is the one i am happiest with and i do recommend it.
Best Hoover Canister Vac EVER! August 27, 2008 T. Gasko (st. louis, missouri) 9 out of 10 found this review helpful
The Hoover Windtunnel Anniversary Canister Vacuum is Hoover's answer to Miele. Designed to look and perform like Miele, a high priced German brand, this Hoover has it all. For starters, the Hoover uses a sealed-system, meaning the dirt cannot go anywhere except into the bag. The disposable bag is made of synthetic material, like a Miele Intensive Clean Plus bag, and together with the True Hepa filter on the exhaust end, the Hoover delivers CLEAN AIR back into the room. The five speed electronic speed control delivers gentle suction for the drapes, and high suction for rugs and floors. The Windtunnel Power Nozzle is the real standout here. It deep cleans carpets and rugs without dispersing debris backwards. Picking it all up in one stroke of the 'magic wand'. The wand quickly releases from the Power Nozzle, for edge cleaning ease like no other. The on-board furniture/dusting tool and crevice nozzle are a joy to use, and store out of sight under the cleaner lid (they won't fall off). The full bag indicator tells when to change the Hepa filter bag (two are included with machine). I guess I like the Hose Handle best of all. It features an ergonomic grip making it steer and turn like a dream, and an on/off switch for the Power Nozzle is also in the hand grip (won't tangle the fringe of throw rugs if you shut off the brush). The "Pet Hair" attachments also works brilliantly on stairs and mattresses (and car interiors), while the bare floor brush makes quick work of wood and bare floors, without scratching. Hoover started business in 1908, with their classic Upright Vacuum cleaner with motor-driven brush. Hoover's heart, along the way, was never really in canister vacs. To celebrate their 100th anniversary, the new Hoover Windtunnel was conceived. The engineering skill and genius are very much evident in the quality and design of this vacuum. I expect to have my new Hoover for many, many years of dust-free enjoyable cleaning.
