Product Description
UV Light technology deactivates and eliminates germs. Small and unprotected, microbes just cant stand to live in such powerful light. Many pools and cities now use UV Ray Technology to eliminate dangerous, even life threatening microbes in the water. As an added safety feature, the UV Wand lamp will turn off automatically when rotated up preventing the device from accidently shining n the operators eyes. In addition, the power button on the wand must be held for 3 seconds and pressed twice to activate the lamp to help prevent children from activating the wand. Note: The UV wand should never be directed at human eyes or skin. Ultra portable, the UV Wand can be taken with you on trips to help sanitize your hotel

5 out of 5 stars Great product - works on mold too   July 30, 2008

You wonder if a product that kills germs (that you can't see) really works or is just a gimmick. I saw on the product instructions that the UV light kills mold and thought that it would be a good test to see if the wand actually works if it kills mold in our shower (Gross I know. We don't have a lot, but enough that it bugs us).

Apparently, the wand needs a lot more time to kill mold than it does to kill bacteria, so I thought if it can kill the mold we have, I'll feel better that it actually works to kill bacteria that I can't see.

We've had a little bit of mold growing in the corners of our shower and have scrubbed and scrubbed with all sorts of cleaners ever since we moved into our house a few years ago but have not been able to get rid of the mold.

So here's the test:

I set the wand down over the mold area in the shower and left it there (of course I forgot about it, so it stayed on for probably 30-45 minutes before I remembered and turned it off). I didn't have time to scrub it right then, but my wife cleaned the shower a day or two later and the mold came off where the wand was placed. The mold stayed where the wand was not placed.

I did the test again in a different location in the shower (mold area was about the size of dime, yuck). I left it there again and forgot about it, so it was probably on the spot for longer than the first test before I remembered to turn if off. Scrubbing immediately afterward didn't get the mold to come off. I then waited a day or two and scrubbed pretty good (without any cleaners) and the mold flaked off. I scrubbed the same on spot that was not covered by the light in the test and the mold remained.

So as far as I know, the wand kills mold, and if it can kill mold, it should be able to kill bacteria I'm assuming.

Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R3U04JQH3Z04XZ I've got an iphone, and have heard about all the germs that live on your cell phone. I've got an Invisible Shield on my iPhone that was starting to collect dirt and change color, so I figured I'd try one of these. I have to admit, I was pretty skeptical about "waving some magic wand" around my phone and suddenly feeling that it was clean. Well, lo and behold, after waving it on my phone for about 10 seconds or so, a noticed later that day that the discoloration in my iphone started to disappear. My phone suddenly looked cleaner. I was a big skeptic, but this thing works!

I saw this great product being discussed on one of the major talk shows as being a "must-have" item. Wow, were they right. I take it with me when I travel and use it in hotels and other public places. It gives you a great sense of security knowing that with just a swipe of the wand you can kill up to 99% of many germs. I plan on giving these as gifts to many of my friends for Christmas!

I am a germ-a-phobe and this UV Wand kills 99.9% of germs. It is small and packaged in a very sturdy box so it won't get damaged. There are several safety features such as holding the on button down for 3 seconds until it blinks then hit it again to ensure kids don't turn it on. Another is when the wand is turned upside down the UV light turns off to keep anyone from being harmed by the UV rays. I will never leave home without this great product!

I think this is a brilliant solution for sanitizing pretty much anything you need to. With a toddler son and a germ-a-phobe husband, this UV wand is a great fit for our lifestyle. I love the portablitity of it, and I don't have to use harsh chemicals around my son, or on our skin. I really appreciate the child safety feature, too. Peace of mind all around!
