Product Description You know it's going to be a fun day when you start it by eating star and flower-shaped pancakes. The nonstick finish of the rings creates 4-1/2" x 4-1/2" pancakes hot off the grill. Each ring has a wooden handle that stays cools while cooking and allows you to easily lift ring and folds down for easy storage. Set of 2 (one flower, one star) and can also be used for fun-shaped eggs. Recipe and instructions included.
Amazon.com Review Streamlined star and scalloped flower shapes make excellent ring patterns for griddle foods such as hamburgers, pancakes, and fried eggs because they are closest to the normal shapes of these foods and fit tidily on a spatula. The Norpro Rings are truly nonstick, especially when primed with cooking oil and used on a seasoned frying surface. Sturdy wood handles protect fingers and steady the rings in the pan, though you might need an extra set of hands to hold them as you pour batter or crack eggs. These rings work best with thicker batters--egg whites tend to run through, though the resulting fried eggs still maintain basic star and flower shapes. Wash thoroughly after each use. These rings also make nifty dough cutters. --Carol Gnojewski

Egg rings July 21, 2008 N. Bradley Not bad but some of egg will run under the ring but can't be helped I suppose . Perhaps if they had lined the bottom of the ring with something soft it might act like a 'gasket' & kept the egg inside of the ring -who knows?
Works pretty well. May 24, 2008 S. Osheroff Unlike the silcone versions, these metal ones stay flat when they get hot. The sides still aren't tall enough unless you're very careful not to put in too much batter.
can use it for both eggs, and pancake May 2, 2008 Husam J. Alnajjar (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Used it for both eggs, and pancakes. It works fine for pancakes with a little of the mix coming out of the sides. As for eggs well it is worse, so now I cook the eggs, put'em in the dish, and then try to cut with the ring.
Nice for kids, need a teflon coating... March 23, 2008 Luis Alberto Rodriguez (CARACAS, DTO FEDERAL Venezuela) My daughter (5) liked the pancakes and eggs made with these molds, although the novelty wears off fast. The problem I found wih the molds is that the food tends to stick, no matter how many times you butter (or oil) the mold. Also, the star shaped mold is very difficult to clean, due to its shape (sharp corners).
Make Breakfast Fun! January 27, 2001 Michela (Seattle, WA, USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Kids enjoy eating pancakes and fried eggs that are cooked in different shapes. As well, these Norpro Nonstick Flower Pancake/Egg Rings (set of two) could be used to make some fanciful additions to a special brunch menu. These rings have small wooden handles, which fold down for easy storage, that you can hold while you pour in a 1/4-cup of thick pancake batter. I would use a measuring cup with a pour spout. For eggs, I would carefully break one egg at a time into the measuring cup and then pour it into the ring. Be sure to use a seasoned or nonstick griddle or frying pan, at the proper temperature. Also, use a large nonstick spatula. You may want to lightly butter or oil the inside of each ring. Since these rings come in a set of two, I recommend buying several sets, so that everyone can eat at the same time! These rings can be used to cut shapes out of dough, too. Be sure to hand wash them with a mild liquid detergent.
