Even though they feature a wintertime pattern, you can use these Winterberry dishes any time of the year to remind you of the fun and beauty of winter. Each plate, bowl, and mug has a thin green stripe around the outer edge, a ring of holly berries and branches, and an embossed filigree pattern in white. The 16-piece set provides service for four, consisting of dinner plates, salad plates, soup/cereal bowls, and mugs. As with all Pfaltzgraff dishes, single replacement pieces are available for broken items. The stoneware is microwave-, oven-, freezer-, and dishwasher-safe. Five-year warranty. --Doree Armstrong

 Broken dishes as promised November 11, 2008

Pfaltzgraff Winterberry 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4As promised by other reviewers, I received some broken dishes in the set. Two of the salad plates were in pieces when I opened up the dinnerware set box. The salad plates are sandwiched between the dinner plates and the bowls. The dinner plates and bowls were unbroken. The box of dinnerware was placed in a larger box with some wadded up brown paper for packing. The outside box wasn't damaged.

I am SO happy I checked Amazon when shopping online for these dishes as a wedding gift! My family collects them and so we wanted to give a starter set to the new bride, but finding them in June isn't as easy as it is through the holiday season. I had them in my shopping cart and was ready to check out at the company's main site... wincing at the nearly $30 s/h charge... when I suddenly thought to check Amazon first. Not only did I save $20/set here (I was buying 3), but I also got free super saver shipping. Add that all up, and I saved $90 by buying them here! And they arrived at my doorstep in two days and in perfect condition. There's no doubt that I'll shop here first the next time I'm in the market for these!

I ordered a 16 piece set of dishes. Three pieces arrived broken.
Amazon would not replace them. They chose to give a nominal
credit of $5. The dissatisfying part was, not only would I not
receive the option of replacements, but if I reordered another
SET, the cost was more than double the original purchase!

Bought as a gift, but items arrived broken. Shipped items back to Amazon to replace, and replacement items arrived broken also. Going to deal directly with Pfaltzgraff to try to eliminate more broke shipments.
Simple than I expected February 13, 2008

I've been receiving as Christmas gifts one piece of a Winterberry item from a friend. They were beautiful candle sets, servers, foundue sets, etc. But I would never get a dinnerware set. So I decided this year to purchase my own.
They are off white, which I got a little disappointed. I wish they would be white. I also wish the 16-piece would include more usefull pieces rather than a cereal bowl and a mug. Since I purchased this set to serve dinner during my X'mas dinner.
I guess I would use this set during the holidays, not only for X'mas day dinner.
Overall, I really enjoyed my purchase.
