Great product improvement March 29, 2007 JMU Law Duke 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
It is much better than those wooden dowel drying racks. It expands quite nicely. When first received, it felt very sturdy. After a year of use, it is a little wobbly, but nothing like a wooden dowel one would be. Also the top "lay flat" area does not extend fully when the product is extended fully. When extended fully, the product is quite large. For this style drying rack, this is the best product on the market. If purchasing today, I would consider a wall mounted or an upright product instead, although I do not know if either product would be an improvement on this great improvement over the wooden dowel drying rack.
I Suggest You Try Something Else... March 22, 2006 Colorscape Quilts (Los Angeles, CA) 31 out of 33 found this review helpful
I'm not from France, but I was looking for the same kind of metal racks my mother bought a couple of years ago, and these definitely aren't them. There's a reason why they've reduced the price by $10.00 and are suddenly offering free shipping. I'd be pissed, except mine are probably going back. There are no "color coded assembly instructions", in fact, there's next to no assembly instructions. I had to figure out how to "extend" the racks myself, since it doesn't tell you, and it took two of us to pull both ends so the smaller rods pulled out of the larger ones. The rack was a little rickety when it wasn't extended, its certainly rickety when extended. Wet sweaters would probably collapse it. The netting on top is the size of the rack when not extended, and does not hook up or fit all the was across when the rack is extended (and the one on the rack I opened had a damaged loop anyway). Basically, I'd only use this thing for light items like lingerie or blouses, I don't think I'd even consider putting wet sweaters or pants on it -- its too thin and unstable. EDITTED TO ADD: If you purchase this item and don't like it, their return policy means you pay return shipping. That's an extra ten dollar penalty. EDITTED TO ADD (AGAIN): Another reason not to buy, I went through the correct returns procedure and returned the racks a month ago, possibly more, do you think I've received a refund of what's left of my money? Nope, of course not.
Look elsewhere! January 4, 2006 Ghislaine Schwartz (san diego, CA United States) 42 out of 43 found this review helpful
Coming from France, I was used to using drying racks and wanted to purchase one for items that cannot go in the dryer -I was getting tired of decorating my house with hangers every time I did laundry. I didn't want to get a wood rack, but was unable to find a European style rack either, so I settled for this one. Well, this is proof that you should never settle. After just a few uses, the chrome finish has rubbed off from the tubes where they expand, resulting in rust stains on my clothing! I've finally found European style racks -read powder- or plastic-coated- available for purchase in the US. They do cost a lot more than this rack, but at least I won't have to buy a whole new wardrobe as a result of using them.
Same price as wood and WAY better November 28, 2005 Combowoman (New Egypt, NJ United States) 20 out of 21 found this review helpful
This drying rack is AWESOME. It is small when you have a few items and expands (WIDE) when you have a lot. I loved it so much that when I moved I had to buy a second one and it HAD to be the same exact one. If you need a rack, buy this one! Addendum: Be careful when expanding - if you go TOO far, you have to fight to re-assemble. I have had mine for less than a year (I bought a new one in June 2005) and the coating is rubbing off, exposing stuff that CAN ruin my clothing. Alas, it is not at wonderful as I once hoped!
Best drying rack EVER September 2, 2005 Sheri Bodine (Lowell, IN USA) 14 out of 15 found this review helpful
I have had a hard time finding a rack that isn't wood. I found this one and it ended up being beyond perfect. It can be used small for just a few things or expanded for lots of items (without breaking like wooden racks). The sweater net on top is very useful and I don't have to dry it on the bed.
