A bit large but still works fine. October 27, 2008 Larry D. Schwensen This little gem makes a good sized scrambled egg square for sandwiches with no egg hanging down. While a little large for standard "wonder type" bread I simply found a bread large enough to fit. A 5" by 5" square sourdough bread at my local W Superstore. It comes sliced or unsliced Two eggs scrambled works fine when paired with sliced ham and a slice of cheese. The whole sandwich can then be grilled in the still hot skillet in which the eggs were cooked. I am amazed at the comments about the size being so small when the description clearly stated the size as 5"square. 5' is the same the world over, so why the surprise. As for the coating peeling off, simply re-season the skillet. It is a simple matter and any owner of cast iron knows this procedure is periodically required if the old seasoning is washed off intentionally or comes off by accident.
Raclette, anyone? September 15, 2008 P. Jakobi (Germany) If you know about Switzerland's Raclette dish, this tiny pan may be the best and most-long-lived large raclette pan in the world (large compared to other raclette pans that is). Besides it's just about the right size for a large Toast Hawaii :).
Great Little Skillet June 27, 2008 Z. Frampton (Utah) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
As with my other Lodge products I was very satisfied with the quality of the skillet. And it works great for sandwiches and french toast. I even bought one for my son and son-in-law for Father's day and they were excited to get them. I recommend this for anyone who ever grills sandwiches, fries eggs or french toast.
It's Tiny! January 24, 2008 Profesor Woland (NY, NY) 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
This piece is literally only big enough for a slice of bread. It's a sandwich maker, or maybe tiny square omelets. I thought it would be bigger... Didn't pay attention to the Size I guess...
Lodge Square Cast Iron Skillet January 7, 2008 Gladys Gragg (Nashville, TN) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This little skillet is the best investment I have made in years. It is just large enough for two people. Since my husband and I are retired it is the perfect skillet for corn bread for two or for a large "biscuit" that would be equal to about four regular sized biscuits. I have used cast iron skillets all my life and have many sizes but this one gets used more than any skillet in my kitchen. I would highly recommend this product.
