A transitional coffee maker at best, because it's cheap and makes more than 4 cups.
Bought this one after the sparkly red programmable Mr. Coffee maker mildewed and died (was murdered, actually, by me). I also tried the 4-cup cheapie but it was way, way too small.
Main gripe is the construction of the filter well, because the swinging arm/faucet that the hot water comes out of is non-stable in position and unless strict attention is paid to where it's positioned and to how the grounds are distributed in the filter and the edges of the filter firmly pressed against against the sides of the filter holder, hot water will spray down over the sides of the filter, folding it inward, causing the wet grounds to overflow and drip down into the carafe and totally utterly spoil that pot of coffee.
Still, it works, and I'm sure it will continue to work until I find my next true love coffee maker. This is the guy you date to keep from committing suicide while you're waiting for the handsome prince to come along.
