Amazon.com Review
From KitchenAid's Gourmet Essentials line comes this cookware set made of hard-anodized aluminum. Durable, handsomely finished in matte charcoal gray, and known for its exceptional heat distribution and retention properties, hard-anodized cookware is a very popular choice for the home chef. KitchenAid embellishes these pots with stainless-steel handles, riveted for strength and wrapped with cushy, stay-cool silicone grips. The lids, made of break-resistant glass for optimum viewing, also feature silicone-wrapped handles, highly arched to enable easy grasping with a potholder or oven mitt. Both the pans and lids are oven-safe up to 400 degrees F.

An excellent value, this 12-piece set consists of the most frequently used kitchen pots and pans and makes a great gift set. The two skillets, measuring 8 and 10 inches in diameter, handle everyday frying and sautéing needs, from eggs-over-easy to grilled cheese sandwiches to fish filets, then crepes for dessert. Three saucepans holding 1, 2, and 3 quarts let you boil a single egg, heat soup, and slow-cook a creamy risotto with wild mushrooms. The large 8-quart stockpot with two loop handles works admirably for family-sized batches of pasta, chili, soup, and corn-on-the-cob. Finally, the 12-inch covered sauté pan with its helper handle tackles generous quantities of fried chicken, braised meats, stir-fries, and poached salmon. The nonstick finish releases food quickly and makes clean up by hand a snap. It's best to keep the nonstick cookware out of the dishwasher. KitchenAid covers the set with a one-year, hassle-free replacement warranty. --Ann Bieri

4 out of 5 stars My first good set of cookware   August 29, 2008

Although I am well past middle-age, this is my first "set" of cookware. I have a new glass-top range so I decided to replace my old cookware. I gave 4 stars because the 12" saute pan seems to wobble when cooking in it. I'm not sure it is completely flat on the bottom. I am very happy with the other pieces. They distribute heat well and they are very easy to wash up.

5 out of 5 stars Great Cookware!   August 17, 2008

I have had this cookware set for about a month now and I can't say how happy I am that I purchased them. They are wonderful and quite a steal at this price. I would recommend them to anyone! Absolutely nothing sticks to these pans and clean up is a breeze. I have even fried eggs without any butter or cooking spray and they did not stick. My favorite is the large covered saute pan. I use it all the time and am really glad that I got the 12 piece set instead of the 10 piece because of this pan. I think these pans will last me quite awhile!

5 out of 5 stars What a GREAT VALUE!   August 14, 2008

This a great set for this price point. Just the way the set was packed really surprised me, they really intend for these to get to you without damage.
These are very sturdy pans. i can't imagine how you could possible damage (break or bend) them in regular use. Even the glass lids seem very tough, dropping them on a wood floor hasn't hurt them at my house. The outside finish will stay as long as you don't use the dish washer on this set, it will fade I'm told. The non-stick finish doesn't; stick that is. I'm babying mine, because we all know non-stick can be scratched. By that I mean I'm not stacking them inside each other. I don't stack the pots one inside the other, and I turn the fry pans turn upside down to avoid things falling into them. The non-stick surface works very well in day to day use. I have been able to use a paper towel in dish detergent to wipe out a pan and it's clean, that's hard to beat. I also like the feel of the silicone handles, they give you a secure feel when lifting lids, or the pots themselves. The handles on the lids can get a little hot in use but it's tolerable.
I spent a lot of time researching this purchase, and I still wasn't sure if I had made the right decision when I bought this. But, after using this set quite a bit, I'm very happy I didn't spend more. This set was a good purchase.

5 out of 5 stars Good Quality, low price   July 20, 2008

I am very happy with this cookset. It is strong and sturdy, and the non-stick is better than anything I've ever cooked on before. They are easy to cook with, and easy to clean up. Also, the set comes with only useful peices, so you don't get the sense that you are paying for something you won't use, and you don't have to spend more money to buy extra peices the set does not include. I don't see any difference between this set, and my friend's more expensive set.
