Product Description
Imagine having all your meals ready when you come home each day! This 6-quart cooking pot goes from heating/serving to stovetop, oven, refrigerator, freezer or dishwasher. It holds a whole chicken, ham or roast and offers low, medium and high settings for roasting or slow cooking, plus a keep warm setting for serving. The durable cooking pot has a premium nonstick (non-teflon) interior and stainless steel handles; a glass cover allows easy viewing as sauces simmer and meats sizzle. The handy lift-out rack lets you remove roasts and meat with ease. Cooking pot, cover and rack are all dishwasher-safe. Base is heat-resistant.

Amazon.com Review
Versatile and convenient, this 6-quart pot can be used on the stovetop for cooking soup or stew, go into the oven for roasting a chicken or baking a casserole, and placed on its 210-watt heating base for slow-cooking a pot roast or keeping food warm while serving. For serving, the heating base's temperature control has a keep-warm setting. Medium and high settings permit cooking on the base. The oval aluminum pot, colored black like its heating base for contemporary style, has a nonstick interior and measures 12 inches long by 8-1/2 inches wide, ample for a chicken, ham, or roast beef. A lift-out rack is included for keeping food off the bottom so it can be thoroughly browned during roasting. The pot's glass lid permits cooking to be monitored without releasing heat, and the lid's knob stays cool on the stovetop. For easy cleanup, the pot, lid, and rack are dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Can't live without it!   February 13, 2010

This is one of the few slow cookers that you can use on the stove top and on the base. The great advantage to this is that you can brown your meat or bring your dish up to a high heat quickly, then put it on the base to cook and forget about it. It doesn't take as long to cook as a crockery pot yet gives you the safety of flameless cooking. The non-stick surface means clean up is a breeze. I use this at least once a week and can't live without it!

5 out of 5 stars Love It!   January 31, 2010

This is the 2nd West Bend Slo-Cooker I have had and the only reason I had to buy another is I dropped the base on the floor and broke it. It works much better than a crock pot and I love that you can take the pot off the base to the table. My favorite kitchen item!

3 out of 5 stars Having a problem.   January 26, 2010

A few month after getting the Slo-Cooker the finish started peeling off where the handle is attached to the pot. I stopped using it because I did not want the non-stick finish to get into the food.

5 out of 5 stars Versatility is the Best of my 3 Slow Cookers   December 6, 2009

After 15 or more years, my first West Bend slow cooker expired. I couldn't locate another one and never thought about contacting the West Bend Company. I found the Versatility at Walmart on sale for only $39.95 and almost didn't purchase it due to the size. However, I am so glad I did because it too has performed for over 6 years to my satisfaction. You must READ THE INSTRUCTIONS! The slow cooking units are able to function as a slow cooker or as well as an oven. I use my unit more like my oven by seasoning and wrapping my roast in foil, etc. They cook to perfection with the least expensive cuts of meat being very tender and without a crockpot taste. It is also great for slow cooking, but you must use the slow cooking instructions. When reading the reviews, I realized most people do NOT read instructions. If you make a mistake, it is not this cooker's fault! It is wonderful. My only problem is I had to readjust myself to the oval lid. I have let it slip down into my pot of beans a few times.

Thanks Amazon for offering this wonderful unit. I now know where I can purchase my next one in a few years when this one expires.

1 out of 5 stars Excellent for the first few uses   October 21, 2009

I love this slow cooker at first. The flexibility of using it on the stovetop or in the oven, and storing it in the refrigerator is fantastic. And it's nonstick. Using it about 4x a month, I loved it for the first 3 months. While it is dishwasher safe, I hand washed it because of the nonstick coating, and after about 12 uses, the nonstick coating was beginning to flake. Yuck. Worse though, just after that, I used it on the stovetop to brown meat before putting it on the base, and even over a very low stovetop flame, the pot "popped" and warped. The pot no longer sits snugly on the base. I called West Bend's customer service about this and was told that it was common but would not affect performance. However, since then, it has not been distributing heat properly a recipe that cooked in 8 hours previously had to be left overnight and still was not done. What a waste of $70. I will be replacing it with a $30 crock one.
