Product Description 5qt Round Crock Pot White
Amazon.com Review The original slow cooker, the Crock-Pot was first introduced by Rival in the 1970s and has proved to be much more than a fad. This convenient appliance helps you prepare delicious family-style meals while you're working, running errands, hiking, or just relaxing around the house. The 5-quart, round Crock-Pot is large enough to cook four to six chicken breasts with vegetables or enough chili or soup for four to five people. The easy-to-use programmable timer turns on and off with the push of a button and lets you choose among time settings of 4, 6, 8, and 10 hours. When cooking time is complete, the Crock-Pot automatically shifts into warming mode, which keeps food at the right eating temperature but doesn't overcook it. The exterior of this Crock-Pot is white plastic that wipes down easily and matches the décor of most kitchens. Plastic handles provide a secure and comfortable grip for transporting the cooker. The Crock-Pot's internal liner is made of durable stoneware that is attractive enough to go from cooker to tabletop to serve your meal. The liner also has a stick-resistant coating and is dishwasher-safe to make clean-up easy. The glass lid lets you peek at your food while it cooks and is also dishwasher safe. Rival offers a limited 1-year warranty on this stoneware slow cooker. --Cristina Vaamonde

To quote so many others, "too hot" March 16, 2010 Bekah Smith (Colorado Springs, Colorado United States) Haha...I have to say that I completely agree with so many others that this crockpot cooks way too hot! In fact, I was actually on here looking for a new crockpot to replace this one and just happened to see this one on here with low ratings. So out of curiosity I came here to see what others were saying and lo and behold, I'm not the only one! I totally thought we just had a mis-wired one. So yes, no matter what setting its at, it cooks much too hot. I absolutely regret giving away our old crockpot and have avoided using this one. We've had this thing for 3 years or so and nearly everything coming out of it has been overcooked.
I LOVE THIS CROCK POT! March 7, 2010 Darlene M. Roy (Lakes Region, NH USA) Not sure why everyone is bitching about this crock pot. I've owned mine for YEARS and absolutely LOVE it. The timer feature is great, it cooks the BEST whole chicken with about 2 cups of water and the bones just fall off. I could use a new crock for mine after using this no less than 100's of times since mine has a hairline crack, but it's still usable. I'm cooking a chicken in it while I'm writing this review. I've cooked pot roast, chili, beef stew, bbq pulled pork, pork roast and plenty more in this and am happy with the results each and every time. The price is right, I've sure gotten my moneys worth out of it. If your fussy & want to spend more on a different model, go for it. If you want an inexpensive appliance that cooks FOR you, buy this one. I absolutely don't agree with any of the negative reviews that this crock pot has received. So what if it cooks HOT? It cooks a great meal. Mine is well used and well loved! It also cleans up very easy.
Stinks like cheap Chinese pottery February 23, 2010 time2pedal (NM) Have had this about 3 months. Use it several times a week. And I am about to put it on Craig's List and buy a new one of any other brand but this one! UGH. This thing stinks! No, I mean it literally stinks. Have you ever opened one of those cheap Chinese pottery things, wrapped in cheap Chinese paper? And you think, "Oh my gawd this smells bad? I sure hope the factory they made this in is safe for the poor folks who work there?" Then you go wash you hands because they feel dirty? Well, this is what the crock part of this appliance smells like. And continues to smell like, and seems to impart the smell to your food (though I may be a tad bit sensitive). I kept hoping the smell would wear off but it has not.
Oh, and the stink is just the beginning... It gets wicked hot when cooking--not in the crock but the metal part as well. It cooks unevenly. It makes obnoxiously loud sounds when you set the timer, and when the timers go off at the end of the cycle. Oh, and the lid rattles worse than the Tin Man when he's talking to the Wizard. The crock stains when you cook anything other than brothy soups in it. Ugh. This is a piece of JUNK. You know, I am a firm believer of reduce, reuse, recycle (my last crock pot was one my mother-in-law had given me 15 years ago, that she had used in her herb shop daily for at least 5 years... so really, I don't buy appliances lightly.). But, I think I'll just throw this piece of junk out rather than curse some other poor soul with this stinky, turkey of a product. YUK!
I'd buy the same one again. January 30, 2010 Mandy (Nevada) I have owned this product for two years now, and have not han any problems with it at all. It is a perfect size to feed a family of four and maybe a guest or two. It has enough functions to do everything I need, but is still simplet to operate. The bowl separates and goes into the dishwasher. If I needed another one, I'd buy it again.
Like it! January 21, 2010 DG (Renton, WA United States) I have had several chances to use this cooker so far and I like it. I am a very experienced crock pot user, and have not had trouble with it cooking too hot as long as I use the right amount of liquid, fill it the right amount, etc. I am hopeful that this one will last a while, previously I had a Cuisinart that had flimsy pots that cracked. After replacing them a couple times I gave up. This cooker looks good and works well, the one other feature that I would like that would give it 5 stars for me would be more choice in cooking time, and the ability to adjust it if necessary during cooking.
The design of the pot and lid is good, it has grooves in the top of the pot to allow moisture to roll back down from the lid to the pot to prevent the rattling noises some of them make. It is also easy to slide around on the counter.
Overall good and a nice size if you are not cooking large amounts, like I do.
