Best Crockpot Ever! July 23, 2008 Lady Rorschach (Discovery Bay, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the Mercedes of crockpots! Even cooking, NO BURNING, made well, beautiful to look at, delivers yummy meals exactly the way you want them. In the year I've had this appliance it has performed above and beyond any crockpot I have owned (about four). I chose not to purchase the one with the metal insert. I brown/braise foods in another pot and transfer them to the crockpot. The only fault so far has been that two of the four rubber feet have fallen off but customer service has been most cooperative. Hopefully this will be my final crockpot. I LOVE IT!
All-Clad Slow Cooker July 23, 2008 Joe Craft II 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have been using my new All-Clad slow cooker for about 2 months now and it is by far the best slow cooker I have ever had. When cooking on low it really cooks on low. I have tryed several others all of which would cook the food to death by the end of the day. Not this one the food is perfect every time. I also like the way is switches to keep warm at the end of your preset cooking time and keeps the food just right for eating. Joe Craft II
I have finally found my crock pot! May 24, 2008 J. Handy (WA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
As a child of the 60s, I grew up with pots of pintos simmering in the crock pot. I still have and love my old cobalt blue Rival, but I wanted something bigger and something that had a timer. I purchased the "updated" Rival with the time settings. After one year, the handle simply melted. Thank goodness Costco has a generous return policy. After researching for a couple weeks, I zoomed in on the All-Clad stainless steel. I've had her for a month now, and I do believe this is the crock pot I've always wanted. Why you may ask? 1) The 6 1/2 quart is big enough to put in both beef and pork ribs for slow cooked "in a pinch" pulled pork, carnitas and ribs. 2) I love the rubberized edge around the cooker insert. It keeps the seal strong, and cuts down on the possibility of accidentally wapping the glass top and cracking it. 3) She cooks my favorite gourmet beans from elranchogordo. com and keeps them WHOLE even if I cook them for ten hours due to a long work day. 4) The timer will switch to warm after the programmed time is finished. 5) The handle is riveted on (not plastic), so I don't worry about the melting fiasco of the Rival. 6) The crock pot is sleek looking, and really looks beautiful in the kitchen. 7) I LOVE the smell of slow cooked food after I come home for a hard day teaching 8th graders. You won't be disappointed.
Aluminum insert version March 9, 2008 JB (Washington, DC United States) 13 out of 15 found this review helpful
After reading other reviews, I opted for the aluminum insert version of this product, which is a Williams Sonoma exclusive. I've never owned a slow cooker before so don't have anything to compare this to, but it's wonderful so far. Because it's aluminum, I can saute in the inner bowl right on the stove without having to wash another pan. I'm a vegetarian and often add frozen products towards the end of the cooking time (Morningstar Farms veg. steak strips, etc.), and don't have to worry about the temperature change cracking the pan. Clean up is a breeze. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is the price - $250 is pretty steep, and with shipping and taxes from WS, the total price was closer to $300.
Most expensive is not always the best. February 26, 2008 Old Hickory (New York State) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
I just started cooking with a slow cooker and was so pleased with the convenience of leaving for work in the morning and coming home to a cooked meal. Unfortunately I went for top of the line. My mistake as there isn't that much difference between All Clad and the slow cookers that have similar features. Save your money, it doesn't do anything different. When looking for a crock pot also think about the size, I found the 6.5 quart slow cooker to be very heavy and awkward when trying to wash it/rinse it out. Disappointing with All Clad was the lid cover. It becomes so hot you can't pick it up without grabbing a pot holder. My old slow cooker's (the one that started it all -$25) lid I could always pick up during the cooking process without burning my fingers. And lastly I too was disappointed that All Clad didn't include a slow cooker cookbook, it has a couple of recipes with their instructions, nothing too interesting.
