Amazon.com Review
Elegant and powerful, this stand mixer smoothly turns out cookie or bread dough, and beats enough eggs for omelets by the dozen. The mixer's silver-toned metal finish and deep 7-quart stainless-steel bowl add a sleek, contemporary look to any kitchen. Three large metal mixing tools are included: a nonstick dough hook, a nonstick flat beater, and a stainless-steel wire whisk. An optional clear plastic splash guard fits tightly over the bowl; a hinged section of the guard allows the addition of ingredients during mixing. A small release lever automatically raises the top of the mixer, allowing mixing tools to be inserted or changed. A large, easy-grip dial with varied speeds and a quick-action pulse feature starts the tools rotating within the fixed-position bowl. Fit the sturdy glass 40-ounce multispeed blender into the outlet on top of the mixer to whip up delicious fruit smoothies, or to purée soup. For best results, wash the metal bowl and tools by hand. This heavy, die-cast aluminum mixer is 14 by 15 by 10 inches, and is covered by a one-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

5 out of 5 stars A Mixer? More like a Juicer that is also a Mixer!   July 6, 2005

I bought my Delonghi 800 mixer a couple years ago and it has worked like a charm---from making hearty breads to whipping up a dozen egg whites, but only recently did I realize what a great juicer I had already sitting on my counter!

I invested in all of the Delonghi attachments last summer (juicer, blender, grinder, food processor) when I read that a new model was coming out and I was worried that I might not be able to buy them if I didn't act---so I did. I promptly put them in the cupboard and there they sat for the past year---unused.

Last month I decided to kick my 'health eating' lifestyle into high gear by increasing my vegetable/fruit intake and I decided a juicer would be a great way to increase 'raw' intake. After a lot of research on juicers, I finally made a decision and was ready to order---not a minor investment, mind you---when a chance look in the back cupboard reminded me of my prior attachment investment. Hmmm. What the heck, I thought, lets try out the juicer attachment.

20 minutes after reading the manual (which I wished contained more information than could be printed on a 3x5 card), I had a concoction of vegetables juiced and was enjoying a natural high: AMAZING! Over the past month, I have put everything but the kitchen sink through this juicer and it hasn't flinched one bit. I can't believe how powerful it is. Again: AMAZING!

2 out of 5 stars Go Kitchenaid   August 25, 2004

I got the Kenwood 2 years ago because I needed more capacity than my Kitchenaid. I plugged it in for the first time and it made a monstrous noise. I immediately called customer service and "played" the noise over the phone and was told it was definitely not supposed to sound that way. I got a replacement and it worked twice but then the motor crashed. I was directed to Delonghi customer service and received a new Delonghi mixer which has been working well for over a year and a half. My only concern now is that the non-stick coating on the K-beater is chipping off! I had to spend another 40 dollars to replace the beater and have not gotten a response from customer service. I miss my Kitchenaid!

5 out of 5 stars A "must-have"   September 28, 2003

If I could own only one appliance, this would be it. Powerful, simple to use, super large capacity...this mixer has it all! I own a Kitchenaid, as well. While that has also served me well, I use my Delonghi for all the most demanding tasks. If you like to bake bread, you should own this.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Mixer!   August 27, 2003

This is an excellent mixer. I think it has the best value/performance combination of any other mixer on the market today. I love the fact of having a continuously variable speed control instead of a limited number of speeds. This provides a higher degree of control in comparison with the KitchenAid.

It offers virtually vibration free performance even when dealing with heavy dough. This is a very powerful machine (800 watts motor! The Kitchen Aid Professional has 525 watts).

I disagree with one of the other reviewers about the noise. I think that the noise level is very comparable with the KitchenAid; maybe a little higher noise level, but not much given the fact that is has a much powerful motor.

Quality wise, this mixer has very meticulous craftsmanship. The only complain I have is that the splash guard should be of better quality. It is made of somewhat thin plastic. I expected it to be more heavy duty.

Since I have stainless steel appliances, it complements my kitchen beautifully.

I highly recommend it

4 out of 5 stars Great machine but horrible customer service   May 16, 2003

I purchased this machine in November of 2002 for my wife. It worked suberbly handling difficult sourdough breads as well as delicate eggwhites for genoise. Unfortunately, after two months it simply didn't turn on. Customer service indicated the need to drive 120 miles to nearest repair facility. After waiting over a month we were informed there was a problem getting authorization to simply replace the machine. After the 2nd month we were told that this repair facility was not authorized for this repair and we needed to go get it and send it to New Jersey at our cost. We are told this is another 6-8 week delay. Contrast this with KitchenAid which immediately sent a replacement machine in the warranty period and paid shipping. The Delonghi Kenwood is more powerful but warranty and service are significant detriments.
