5 out of 5 stars #1 kitchen blender   September 26, 2008

I got this to mix/whip cream, egg whites, pancake batter, cake mix, pancake mix and cookie batter and it does the job for everything very well. It's also rather quiet, it's not one those blenders that just makes a lot of noise without doing much work. This 7-speed blender also comes with 2 bread hooks and 1 mixing tool (that can be used for light sauces or salad dressings) besides the 2 standard blender beaters. This includes an auto-eject button and all parts can go in the dishwasher. I got mine from Williams-Sonoma and have since seen it priced for much less. (Sometimes I really think that Williams-Sonoma egregiously marks up their prices for no other reason than to claim a bigger fiscal earning.) Anyway, you can certainly find cheaper blenders, but you won't find one that will be as sturdy, powerful or as quick and easy as a KitchenAid.

5 out of 5 stars KitchenAid Hand Mixer   August 30, 2008
Richard D. Wilson (Baton Rouge, LA USA)
I got this for my wife's Red KitchenAid appliance decorated kitchen. It has been one of the most used products she has. I often hear her make comments whenever she's using it as to how well it performs compared to other mixers that she has had in the past. This mixer certainly made a lasting impression.

2 out of 5 stars Should have listened to the other reviewers.   August 25, 2008

I was in the middle of doing a wedding cake, 3 batches of buttercream and more to go and the gears start to grind. Had to go back to using my Kitchen Aid Stand mixer and a $10.00 toast master I'd used for 6 years. I do like the design and the digital read out of the speeds, as well as the sensitivity of the speed increments. Quality control awful.

4 out of 5 stars good hand mixer   August 18, 2008

The kitchenaid mixer works great for day to day use. It is light weight and not a loud mixer. If you are planning to use it frequently, I suggest opting for the 9 speed.

1 out of 5 stars Good mixer, terrible beaters & support   August 11, 2008

We've had this mixer for 5 years and have used it maybe a dozen times (I usually use our stand mixer for making cookies & such). Over the 4th of July, one of the tines on the beater broke free while making meringue for a lemon pie. When you look close at the beaters, you can see that the tines are held together with spot-welds. This beater broke free at the spot-weld while whipping eggs! Figuring we just had a defective beater, I called Kitchen Aide and told them it broke free while simply whipping eggs - it's not like I was mixing comcrete with it (her snide response "Are you sure?" didn't help the situation). She happily told me I could buy some new beaters for $15 (+ $10 shipping).
Okay, even though the mixer was hardly used and didn't break from regular use but from a defect, it was 5-years old. So, I got some new beaters. First night, I decided to test them by using them to make cookies instead of using our stand mixer. Surpise, surprise, they broke in exactly the same way!!!
Because of this problem & additional problems with our Kitchen Aide toaster, we're never buying Kitchen Aide again (why pay premium prices if you get substandard products?).
