Why did I wait so long?! July 13, 2008 Jean AAH -- a taste of heaven! I had a 40 yr-old Kitchen Aid 150 watt machine that I literally burned up -- babied it for years and finally gave in and took the plunge. Figured I could get lots of watts for not a lot difference in price -- was glad for the measurements so I didn't overdo it by going to the real professional models -- this one is just right for home use but has the features of commercial machines. NICE!

I was charged for this product, but it never arrived. I would say that makes me very unsatisfied. Drew Benson
Please Check other Review Sites and see how this machines reputation will be trash very very soon July 5, 2008 Ashley Kensington (Southwest, USA) 1 out of 4 found this review helpful
Before you decide to purchase this product PLEASE please PLEASE take the time to read other people's "horror" stories on other websites. There is invariably a very large proportion of negative reviews about this machine including their customer service vs the positive ones. Yes we all know that people are more likely to post negative reviews than positive ones - but I believe IMHO that the "across the board" consensus proves that not everyone can be wrong. This all being said, I'll tell you my little story. My grandmother had one of these (well it looked the same) and I've been in love with it - fondly remembering licking the bowl after it was used to make wonderful kitchen concoctions. I have been "sold" on wanting one of the VERY SAME mixers from the time I was in that kitchen standing on the stool so I could see over the kitchen counter. Just as a silly I-have-extra-time-on-my-hands thing, I decided to see what the reviews said about my "love". Well, I was offended at first thinking, these people must be crazy - I checked to make sure we were all talking about the same machine, etc. Yep, sure enough. Well the long and the short of it is - that my grandmother's machine manufactured 35+ years ago was manufactured as a part of a retail (home) line of a commercial mixer manufacturer called Hobart. Hobart is a company that still manufactures mixers (very high quality) but the have long since stopped being used by KitchenAid to make their mixers. My grandmother was one of the lucky few that back in the day quality of the mixer and customer service was made by Hobart, but no longer do we in this generation have that wonderful option. Now, I feel like I do not want to even CHANCE having any of the problems that a KitchenAid is NOW known for. If I could go back in time and get one of the older models - that is what I would do. But for me, I think the choice is going with a used Hobart (smallest version of course) - that WILL actually last.
NOT for Professional or Everyday Use. July 3, 2008 E. Nadal 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My dad has been using the Kitchen Aid Mixers way before they became popular (When they were Hobarts). He buys them because he needs the 5qt+ capacity - no more no less. He uses them almost daily and has gone through several after it switched from Hobart to Kitchen Aid. Kitchen Aid customer service is excellent and they've replaced a few of them. If you are looking for a mixer you can abuse and use professionally, get a more expensive machine if you can. These are built for the occassional home kitchen use and for years now have not been built to last. If that's their track record I doubt they'll go "back in quality", but just keep getting cheaper. I recently ordered a Electrolux DLX2000 for him based on their solid reviews, but would always have liked a $1500-1800 Hobart N50, but could never justify the $$$, since to him that equals 5 or 6 Kitchen Aid 600s every 2-3 years each!
gearbox is poorly made June 24, 2008 G. Maxwell 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
mixer worked great for several years, then someone put bread dough in it. now the gearbox is completely shot: the plastic casing cracked, allowing the gears to misalign, ripping some of the teeth off of one of the gears and cracking one of the bushings. great mixer, just not for anything thicker than cookie dough.
