| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review This is an adequate no-frills manual bread slicer, and adequate is the operative word. The crumb catcher eliminates messes, making this slicer a much cleaner option than slicing bread on a cutting board. Also, you can achieve uniform 1/2-inch slices; the only caveat is that you can't adjust the slicer to cut any thicker or thinner. Use your longest serrated knife when cutting, because a knife that just barely spans the width of the slicing tray will keep slipping out of the acrylic slicing guides. The guides have no top support and tend to wobble a bit as you slice. They also have inexplicably high sides; you'd have to use triple the leavening to make bread that reaches the top of them. Despite its design limitations, the Norpro deluxe bread slicer is easy to assemble and maintain and has an attractive overall look. --Carol Gnojewski
Product Description Slicing aid for bread ensures consistent thickness of slices while avoiding the risk of cutting one's hand. Acrylic slicing guide with "Bread" imprint fixed to a wood base with removable crumb catcher.

Knew what I was getting into September 30, 2008 N. Purnell (Medford, OR) While this item was exactly what was discribed, its enability to change the slicing width makes for very large slices. So if you want just a little bread, don't have a sandwitch.
Love this product September 30, 2008 Mommom (Washington, USA) I love this bread cutter. I make all my own bread and was having trouble getting even slices. Now I have no problems and the crumb catcher is great for easy clean up. Love it and would recommend it.
very good September 29, 2008 N. Mitchell (Connecticut) Very effective at slicing bread that is fresh and hard to cut. Good design with the rack and bottom so that crumbs do not go everywhere. The only down side to the product is that it is one more (fairly large gadget) that one needs to find storage space for. Otherwise, a great thing to have!!!
Not Bad, pretty good design, even slices September 23, 2008 V. Fallon (Hubbardston, MA United States) I'm actually happy with this product. Although bulky to store, but I manage to live with it. My suggestion is to buy an additional small chopping board (plastic or wooden) that fits into the slicer, reasons being, the slicer will last longer since the wood part is pretty soft. You should also buy a bread knife that is longer than 9".
don't waste your money ! September 16, 2008 Helen R. Shepherd (Sierra Vista, AZ)
This is a piece of junk.....the plastic is terrible for cutting even slices....the worst !
