Amazon.com Review
Perfect for small households and occasions when a kitchen's oven space isn't sufficient, this portable, 750-watt roaster-oven roasts, cooks, bakes, steams, and slow-cooks any food imaginable at 200 to 450 degrees F. It's big enough for roasting a large chicken, cooking 6 quarts of chili, baking a loaf of bread, steaming vegetables or a couple of lobsters, and slow-cooking a beef stew. Measuring 16-1/2 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 10 inches high overall, the roaster has a removable nonstick cooking pan that is 12 inches long, 8-1/2 inches wide, and 4-3/4 inches deep. An additional 2 to 3 inches of depth is provided by a domed, vented lid. Included is a chrome roasting rack with handles that also lifts casserole dishes and baking pans and sheets off the bottom. A wraparound heating element ensures even, moist heat. A cooking-time guide and recipes accompany the roaster, which carries a one-year warranty against defects and is attractive enough to take to the table for serving. --Fred Brack

5 out of 5 stars Great cooker   April 5, 2008

This little roaster works great for small to med size roast, turkeys, roaster hens. I have used it many times and like the fact that it cooks faster than you're oven and saves on electricity. I would like it to be a bit larger though. It cooks meat throughly with great taste and it doesn't dry out while cooking.

My whole family tthinks that roasted chicken is so much better. If you like a good tender chicken or a great tender roast this roaster is great. Just the right size for a great dinner or other great foods. I love it Would recommend.

I bought this roaster a few years back from a home shopping network, and I can say this is the best thing I have ever bought...
Nesco makes one that has a silver outside, and is cheaper then this one, But "Don't" buy that one.
It's made in china or something, and its awful, no comparison.
This one is American made and what a differents...
The lid on the other one's never fit right, I returned three of them and never got one that was right, just plain cheap..What you pay for is what you get.

After having this, you will never use your slow cooker again, what for?
This one can be a slow cooker, or like a regular oven.
I have made chicken breast's, soups, stews, roasts, you name it , you can make it in here...
Everything I have made in this roaster has been moist and juicy.
When I make stews or soups I like those thick, so I take off the lid for about one hour when the food is cooked.
I do have an 8qt, 18qt, and 20qt...
I use the big ones for turkeys...But this and the 8qt is used the most.
When I'm making something in this, I can leave the house and not worry I will burn it down lol...Just turn it a bit lower..

I just read where someone here said you can buy a lid that makes this a convection oven! This I have to check out, but I do have a convection oven, and convections toaster oven and truthful can't find too much differents, so if you have the confection lid to this, what differents does it make?...
Also there is a new type of larger roaster for turkeys that has sometype of heating element in the lid, so your turkey skin will brown. that will not happen with this one, but you can't fit a turkey in here anyway!

Also this is nonstick, which makes for an easy clean up.
When you have left overs, you can just take the well out and put it into the refig., then next day just have to reheat it.
What could be easier then that. No real clean up and you have dinner for at least two nights, or for company..

Enjoy this as you cannot go wrong...

NESCO products have been heavily marketed on the shopping channel, QVC. I bought my first NESCO roaster, a 4-quart model, over 10 years ago. I have since given that one away but now own a 5, 6, 12, and 18-quart roaster oven. I have given them as gifts and every person receiving a roaster has absolutely loved it.

The 6-quart model is NESCO's most popular sized roaster oven. You can easily prepare a meal for a family of four. But what sets it apart is its versatility. You can cook from 150 to 400 degrees which separates it from a traditional slow cooker. You can bake, steam, poach, roast and slow cook. The heating element, known as the 'Circle of Heat' extends around the sides of the unit so there will be no burnt food at the bottom of the roaster.

What can you cook in it? The real answer is: What can't you cook in it? You are only limited by the size of the unit. For meats such as pork, poultry and beef, you will be rewarded with the most moist servings that you have ever experienced. Soups, stews and casseroles turn out wonderfully in the NESCO. One of my favorite dishes is Swiss steak as the NESCO tenderizes lean cuts of beef such as round steak and the 'circle of heat' blends the flavors perfectly.

NESCO also offers several accessories on their nesco.com website. I purchased a lid with a fan and that converts your unit into a convection cooker. There is also an expanded cookbook for the unit and a cookbook that discusses how to use the 6-quart as a convection oven (you'll need the Roast-Aire lid).

In summary, this is one of those appliances that I consider to be a 'Must Buy'. It is a mini oven and for busy families or just busy people. You will wonder how you ever got along without it!!!
