Product Description This cordless Electric Teakettle is both handy and attractive. To use, simply fill with water and place on the heating base. Plug base into outlet and turn on the switch; in just minutes, you'll have boiling water for your tea. To make pouring easier, the pot lifts completely off the base and can be carried to your dining room or living room as a convenient and attractive serving piece. The teakettle's heating element is located in the base and never comes in direct contact with the water, preventing mineral deposit build up. The dimensions of the teakettle are 9.5"W x 7.75"D x 8"H.
Amazon.com Review For tea, instant coffee, or hot chocolate, this cordless, 1,500-watt electric kettle brings 1-1/3 quarts of water to a boil faster than a microwave. The kettle is made of stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. To provide 360-degree access, the kettle fits onto the power base in any position and swivels for easy liftoff. The heating element in the base never touches water, so there will be no mineral buildup on it. The roomy handle stays cool, the cord wraps on the base's underside, and rubber feet on the base resist slipping. For safety, the kettle shuts off automatically when water boils or if the kettle runs dry. The kettle stands 8 inches high on its power base and carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

My choice is Chef's Choice! September 1, 2008 V. Zobel (California) I am SO happy with this kettle. I agonized over 3 designs, 2 brands and feel this was the correct choice. It looks great on the counter-top, heats very quickly and is easy to clean.
Fast heater, bad smell May 24, 2008 John E. Worman (New Mexico) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is a slick water heater. It is 1500 watts so it heats the water quickly. It doesn't have any insulation so the water doesn't stay hot, but it doesn't take long to reheat. The electrical connection is through the base, so if you take the kettle off the base the connections shuts off, and that's slick. The kettle does make the water hot! What's not to like? Well, the inside of the kettle is stainless steel with a stainless steel tube running from the bottom to above the water level. On top of the tube they put on a plastic cover! The plastic cover plus the plastic nut holding the handle on the lid imparts a smell and a bit of a taste to the water. We used it for about 2 weeks then decided to order a replacement kettle (different brand). We don't usually send things back so this kettle may end up in my shop for when I need hot water. I'd like to recommend this product, but the plastic parts pretty much ruin it, in my opinion.
Electric Teakettle May 14, 2008 Linda P This kettle heats quickly and works well, but the hot water it generates has a metallic taste to it. I've tried different waters, but the taste is always the same. For this reason I would not purchase it again. I am hoping that in time that taste may disappear, but it's several months old now and it has not changed.
Chefs Choice 685 May 9, 2008 Ted Betz (St. Louis, MO USA) Works just fine, heats water super fast. Inside of kettle does have a slight odor, but tea tastes good..
Heated Water Smells & Tastes Like Hot Metal April 24, 2008 L. Murray (Homer, AK) This kettle works really fast, but the water has a very unpleasant taste & smell. I filled it full of water & baking soda and boiled it then cleaned out the inside, this helped a bit but I still can't drink a cup of tea made with water from this kettle.
