Product Description Oster's tiered food steamer is equipped with instant steam so you can start cooking immediately. It has a combined, 6-qt. capacity (3.8-qt. and 2.3-qt. bowls) and comes with fully collapsible steaming trays for easy cleaning. The large bowl includes eight egg holders for making soft or hard cooked eggs. It also has an external water fill system with a see-through reservoir: monitor the water level and you'll never run out of steam! The LCD display has a 95-minute timer. Cooking can be delayed for up to 12 hours, and with the Keep Warm setting, your food will stay warm while you prepare the rest of the meal. About Oster... in 1946, the first Osterizer?? Blender was introduced to kitchens across America. With its popularity came new products: the portable mixer, deep fryer, meat grinder and citrus juicer, each offering ease and convenience to people's busier than ever lifestyles.

Not recommended!!! October 12, 2008 Y. Wang (Cincinnnati, OH) I tried once then it was broken! Luckily, amazon gave me the full refund after I returned deficient product. It's not durable at all. If you really want to buy, be prepared that it won't last long.
Steam those "Microwave" Quick Meals... hmmm... October 11, 2008 Jim Francis (Miami/London/Negril) Go to the supermarket and buy some of those Healthy Choice "Steam Fresh" meals - look at the instructions, they tell you to zap them in a microwave?!?! Well, here's the scoop... You can steam them in this steamer (first take off the protective film) and boy do they taste great! Much tastier and far more healthy than zapped food. You simply put the whole dish in the steamer for 20-25 mins and it's ready! The food comes out hot, steamy, fresh and juicy - (steamer adds a little water into the mix) - throw in a dash of wine... mix it up and whalla! Delicious! Gourmet food every time! I use this steamer about 3 times a day now. Another idea - try steaming a whole apple for desert - it takes about 25 minutes too - tastes wonderful! Make sure you get the one with the digital LCD timer readout. SERIOUSLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! AAA+++
The Perfect Steamer October 10, 2008 Melinda B. Renfro (VA) I have had this steamer for 5 weeks now. I have used it many times over the past few weeks and I absolutely love it. I mainly cook only for myself so this steamer will work for small meals or larger meals. I've fixed many different dishes in this steamer, Vegetables, BBQ Chicken, Shrimp, just to name a few, and so far everything has came out perfectly. Very Easy Cleanup as well. I would highly recommend this steamer!
food steamer October 6, 2008 Eileen Baucom The steamer was not quite what I expected. The cooking times needed were alot longer than I wanted. I gave the steamer to my daughter-in-law who felt that she would like to try it.
Oster 5712 Electronic 2-Tier 6.1-Quart Food Steamer October 5, 2008 M. Calvo (California) I was going to buy a new egg cooker to replace my old one with a broken egg rack (the price for a new egg rack from that company was out of line). While searching the idea of a food steamer came up that would cook my eggs as well as many other foods. Having a multiple use product made much more sense to me. I have used it for a couple of weeks now, cooking eggs, rice, fish, pork chops and beef ribs in it and I love it. The meats are moist and tender, and like using a slow cooker, it is great to have the dinner completed in one process. I would have given it 5 stars if the instruction book gave more cooking tips and some recipes. I learned by experience that if one cooks eggs in it from the refrigerator the cooking takes much longer (which is expected of course), but finding the right amount of time is a learning process. It does take longer to cook eggs in this type of unit compared to one of the egg cookers that are much smaller, but I allow for this because of its versatile use. It also has a handy delay timer feature, and cleaning it after use is a breeze. It would be nice if the drip tray had handles. It is not easy to remove when filled with drippings and juice. I used a baster to remove the liquids before trying to take out hte drip pan when it was full.
