Product Description The Dualit Vario toaster has extra-wide, pressure sensitive, spring-loaded slots that allow you to use a new type of sandwich cage (sold separately), also by Dualit. With the sandwich cage, you can toast sandwiches inside your Dualit toaster - your gourmet goat cheese and Parma ham sandwich can be placed inside then inserted into the toaster slot. The sandwich cage's drip tray catches any cheese or filling that might fall out during toasting. Also unique about the Dualit Vario toaster is its choice of exciting colors (like glacier blue) and its award-winning ProHeat element, an adjustable thermostat and a Keep Warm function that warms without toasting. Switches control the degree of browning and the number of slots you wish to switch on. After toasting, your toast doesn't pop up (as it does with other toasters) but stays warm until the manual ejector knob in front is pushed up. There's also an adjustable rear foot and a removable crumb tray. About Dualit: It should come as no surprise that the man who invented the Dualit toaster was an engineer. In 1946, Max Gort-Barten produced the original Dualit toaster in his workshop just off London's Old Kent Road. This new toaster soon set new standards and was followed by one used commercially in restaurants. Designed for heavy-duty use, each Dualit Vario toaster is a blend of the simple and highly sophisticated. The patented ProHeat el

It's not just a toaster, It's a DUALIT and PERFECT TOAST! July 5, 2008 Haley Wood Hills (The pearl) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I tried the Breville. I tried some digital toaster. And finally, I realized that if I wanted great toast (perfectly browned to my preference outside, tender inside), then I needed a Dualit. I couldn't be happier with my toaster; I love it so much in fact, I've named it (Stanley) and taken it on an extended working vacation. Some things are worth the money, and these hand-built toasters are one of them. I love the fact that the toast stays warm and doesn't pop up. I love the little tick, tick, tick of the timer. The color blue is both modern and vintage (don't ask me how that is) and it just looks great after all it's been thru (two moves, and lots of use already). In addition, I've toasted pound cake and English muffins and biscuits and all stellar results. SO my advice: spend the money and buy a toaster you'll have for your entire life and that will serve you well during that time.

I waited four years to get this toaster and it was worth the wait. I love that the bread doesn't pop up when it's finished but stays in the toaster warming. I love the color blue and all over design.
