I was enticed by the product's appearance. It also had moderately good reviews. It worked perfectly adequately for about a year and a week! Just a few days after the warranty finished, toast started continuously rising and lowering into the toaster - the element never had a chance to do any toasting. I took it in to the local DeLonghi repair depot, only to be told that no parts were available for the toaster - it was basically chuck the entire product. I was not pleased, and wrote to DeLonghi customer service, but they didn't have the courtesy to even respond. A bad experience all around.

40 years ago we had a Sunbeam toaster that lowered and raised the toast like this and I have been looking for another like it for years. It is sweet! I've had it a couple months and the only complaint is that I'm eating too much toast because it is so much fun.
It does not toast one slice perfectly on both sides but it is good. Two slices seem to come out a lot more even. If you're that picky about color then that might be a problem.
I'm thrilled with it and plan on buying at least one more for a gift.

3 out of 5 stars Looks great. Otherwise so-so   March 26, 2008

Have had this product one year. It looks great. Use it mainly to toast Thomas english muffins. Toast 3 muffins on most mornings. No room to spare. Muffins need to be cut perfectly. It was great at first, but it now takes 2-3 passes to fully toast each defrosted muffin. The heating elements should not be failing at the one year mark. I just ordered a Toaster Oven from Amazon to replace this item. If you want a toaster with the Wow factor, and are willing to accept a high priced toaster with questionable reliability, this may be a good choice. It's that nice looking.

We previously had a similar toaster made by Cuisinart. The motor on it finally stopped working, so it would not lower the bread down into the toaster. We love the motorized feature, and the De'Longhi was the only one we could find that had it. In comparison to the Cuisinart we had before, and I wish the De'Lohghi had wider slots for bread (not thickness of the bread, but width across). If you buy the whole grain breads by Sarah Lee, Peppridge Farm, etc, you have to put the slices in sideways because it doesn't accomodate pieces of bread that are wide (the Cuisinart had one long slot that allowed any size- it was more versatile). I do like the stainless steel to match our other appliances. I have used the warming rack to reheat cressant rolls, which works pretty well. I was surprised. It toasts frozen waffles wonderfully! We found it to be a bit pricey, but overall a nice toaster.

Slots are a bit small, but for a toaster, it rocks and looks great!
