4 out of 5 stars A reasonably good toaster for under $10   April 21, 2008

This toaster also goes by the product name Hamilton Beach or Proctor-Silex. The K at the end of the model number means K Mart. It contains the Hamilton Beach/Proctor-Silex T39 heating elements that draw 780 watts. If you want a simple toaster that doesn't throw toast out of the top and if it breaks you trash it then this model should be considered. It has a traditional world war two look. It toasts both sides of bread equally. It is very simple to operate. The instruction says to "Unplug from outlet when not in use . . ." My dear wife does exactly that. The instruction also says to not to toast Pop Tarts in the toaster. What's with that?

3 out of 5 stars It toasts well, but looks aren't that great   November 25, 2006

We received our toaster - bought it when it was on sale here at Amazon. For $9.99 the toaster does what it's advertised to do. It toasts toast and seems to do it fairly well. The openings are big enough that I think we could get thick toast or smaller bagels into it.

Our toaster came with the plastic/metal a bit miscut or not properly put together. I'm able to get most of it back on right, but the plastic/metal are not flush together.

Other than that, the power cord is on the same side as the lifter. The toaster itself doesn't come with a very long power cord and so some folks may not like the fact that the lifter has to be towards the power outlet. (or sideways) I prefer to have the lifter towards me, but that could just be me.

If you're looking for a decent and cheap toaster, take a shot at this one.
