Awesome Space Saver May 9, 2008 R. Carrier (NYC) This is the perfect appliance if you want a toaster and a small broiler oven and don't want to clutter up your counter with both. Can be used to toast 2 slices of toast or a bagel or to heat up small items (baked potatoes, pizza, etc.)
Hamilton Beach toaststation May 8, 2008 Janice G. Curtis (Chicago area, Il) We love our new toastation! It works beautifully for both baking, heating and toasting and it takes up less counter space than our old toaster oven which did not include a pop up toaster. And it is easy to use especially for us who are technologically challenged!

In searching for a toaster oven that took up less countertop space, I found this and thought it might be the answer - note that we didn't need to make more than 2 slices of toast at a time, and do not use the appliance to cook anything other than toast, bagels, pastry and an occasional slice of pizza. In short, it is half the size of a toaster oven inside with a toaster on the top. Pros: takes up less room. Has conventional toaster. Easy to use dials. Cons: thinner slices of toast fall through toaster part into bottom "oven" part or get stuck (get those toast tongs out). Oven part is not high enough to fit a small italian roll in. Slicing it lengthwise puts it a bit close to the element so you end up using your regular oven if you are warming up small loaf. Overall summation: If you like toast with an occasional use of the oven part, this would serve the purpose.
nice try, engineers May 4, 2008 mtchocura 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I usually do not buy hybrid products like this because the integrated functions do not usually work as well as when they are separated. But, I gave it a shot because i wanted to limit the number of appliances in my kitchen. The idea here is good, but the implementation has problems. The vertical guides for the toast in the toaster section often fail to keep the toast on the lowering mechanism, so it often falls through to the oven section and you have a nightmare to dig it out. Most hideously, the engineers seem to have completely forgotten that sometimes people will want to manually stop the toasting. If you do this by pushing up on the lever, the toast will fly out of the toastation like in cartoons. I often end up having to dig out the toast from between the unit and the wall. There's plain sloppy engineering in here also. Crumbs accumulate in various places like the cracks on the top and the floor of the toaster with no easy way to clean them out. Maybe they'll get it right in version 2. Wait for that.
Toaststation 101 for Dummies... May 4, 2008 Time Traveller (Reno, Nevada) The way to pop the toast up on the Hamilton Beach Toaststation is by moving the lever from Toast to Oven. [LOL!!!] It only took me less than a minute to figure that one out. [LOL!!!]
