Product Description There's nothing new about slow cooking. It captures food flavors better and helps preserve certain nutrients that fade during fast, high-temperature food preparation Slow cookers are wonderful for things you would normally prepare on the stove top, such as soups, stews, sauces, chili, etc. By preparing these types of things in the slow cooker, you free up your time to make other dishes or sides. Slow cookers are designed to do just what you would expect, cook slowly. Most recipes will call for cooking times of 8-10 hours on the low setting. If you simply do not have that much time, you can adjust your cooking time down by 2-3 hours and increase the temperature to high. The 7-Quart KSC700SS Slow Cooker from KitchenAid makes it really easy. Programmable digital timer and eye-catching LCD display make it easy to set cook times from 10 minutes up to nine hours, 59 minutes Large handles and rugged reinforced housing make the unit easy to lift without spilling Unit Dimensions (approx.) - 14.75W x 12.375D x 10H Stainless steel KitchenAid Limited Replacement Warranty - If your slow cooker fails within the first year of ownership, KitchenAid will deliver an identical or comparable replacement free of charge, arrange for the return of the failed mixer, and provide a one-year warranty on the replacement unit

So Far So Good June 10, 2008 Mark C. Etheridge (Myersville, Maryland USA) Took a chance on ordering this due to the high number of good comments I've seen, and the lack of anything else that seems comparable. There have been many complaints about cracking liners ... thus far we have not had that problem. We've used this about 4 times in the past month with great result ... my wife really enjoys it. She loves the timer and the different heat settings, and they were very easy to become familiar with. One negative comment from her, though, is that the liner is pretty heavy, which makes cleanup a little more difficult. But we cook in pretty big quantity so we needed to get this large unit. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of all the negative comments about liners breaking ... I still have my fingers crossed. Get one if you feel lucky!
So far, very happy with this slow cooker! June 4, 2008 L. Superczynski (Maryland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I'll admit, given the many reviews of people having trouble with their crocks breaking, I feel like I might be jinxing myself offering up a positive review, but so far, I am very happy with this crock pot. I love the size and shape of it, though I will say that I can see it being a bit large for some recipes. I tend to cook larger cuts of meats and larger recipes so that I can freeze some, so I enjoy the larger size. The shape of the crock is wonderful, in my opinion, for holding larger items and roasts. This crock has not scorched once for me, and I love that. My old crock pot (the typical Rival) scorched everytime and always needed a good long soak before being cleaned out. This one can basically be wiped clean! I love the various settings and the timer is a feature I am truly enjoying. The only reason that I am not giving this cooker 5 stars is the lid. It serves its purpose and I have not had any issues cooking any of the dishes I have made, but the lid could definitely be reworked to fit better and provide a better seal. I have only had this product for a bit over a month and have used it a handful of times, so hopefully I will continue to have good luck with it and not end up with a cracked insert, but it has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen thus far. I love the look of it, and every dish I made has turned out beautifully. I have and will continue to handwash the insert over using the dishwasher, just as a precaution. I would definitely recommend this slow cooker!

Cracked on first use May 6, 2008 Mimi1949 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Despite the reviews reporting cracks in the pot, I bought this because of the multiple settings, the size and the good experience I've had with Kitchenaid. Lo and behold, I used it for the first time yesterday and within 10 or 15 minutes of starting my spaghetti sauce, I heard a loud crack. You guessed it - the pot had cracked on the side. Earth to Kitchenaid - you have a problem here!
Best thing since sliced bread! April 29, 2008 J. Crysel (D.C.) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This slow cooker is a work horse. I use it at least 4 times a week. My family is very active and we eat at different times and everyday is different. I can do all my cooking in the morning before the day gets hectic. The timer feature is a blessing and it keeps everything warm (up to four hours). I never have the problem of over cooking or burning as I did with other "crock pots". It is well worth the price. I will never ever use any other brand of slow cooker.
