Great Toaster June 13, 2008 Toby Curry We are very happy with this purchase. This toaster is a replacement for an older Avante that also had the bagel feature. The toast and the bagels are not dry, yet nicely toasted. I tried another brand that advertised a bagel feature, but it toasted both sides (not a good thing!). The Avante Deluxe toasts the inside and leaves the outside alone.

This toaster is quite functional but is too large and really doesn't look as retro as it does in the ad
Waffle button causes FIRE April 19, 2008 Howard Guy Williams 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have, wait - had, an older model of this toaster. This morning I tried the "waffle" button for the first time. Went upstairs, came down 3 minutes later and there were flames coming out of my toaster. Apparently the manufacturer incorporated a special "self destruct" feature under the code name "waffle." My advise, if you're smart you'll drop-kick this thing into the trash barrel.
So far, so good. March 28, 2008 E. Giugliano (Maryland) I bought this last week. Our family hits the toaster pretty hard in the morning, so we need something durable. It seems very sturdy, and the extra wide slots will not have a problem even with large bagels. Made in China, like everything else these days (sigh).
Beautiful! February 8, 2008 C. Munoz (Pacific Northwest) This is a beautiful toaster - that's one of the reasons I got it. After a little tweaking, it's toasts perfectly. It is a large toaster but I have a small kitchen and it still is fine on my counter. I tuck it into the corner when I'm not using it and pull it out when I do. It's a bit more expensive but very high quality. I've had the flimsy plastic toasters, now I've got the real deal. Very nice...
