Product Description Producing restaurant-quality rice at home is practically foolproof with this 3-cup electric rice cooker and warmer. The rice pot itself is made of two layers: the outer layer is stainless steel and the inner layer is aluminum that is coated with a non-stick surface for super easy clean up! Multi-menu selections using micro-computerized Fuzzy logic technology control the temperature for efficient cooking of many different types of rice including white, sushi, porridge, brown, and quick cooking. The unit's automatic keep-warm function keeps rice at an ideal serving temperature until it's ready to be served. For added convenience, the appliance comes equipped with an extra-large colored LCD display with clock and timer function, a spherical inner nonstick cooking pan and heating system, a convenient detachable inner lid for easy cleaning, and a built-in retractable cord to help keep countertops tidy. Accessories include a measuring cup, nonstick rice spatula, and spatula holder. With its durable clear-coated stainless-steel exterior, the 450-watt rice cooker measures 11-1/2 by 9 by 7-1/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Should have bought sooner October 6, 2008 J. T. I'm one of those people who believes in "the less clutter, the better," so I'm always loathe to purchase kitchen equipment that I might never use. I fear complicated and difficult-to-clean devices in particular. In my house, things that aren't dishwasher safe go to Goodwill in a hurry. No part of the Zojirushi cooker is dishwasher safe, but that didn't stop me from falling in love with it after the first batch of perfectly-cooked rice. Unlike the pots I used to use to cook rice, this little machine's solid non-stick coated bowl sloughs off any and all bits of rice with the lightest brush of my hand. It's a cinch to clean. Handwashing the rice cooker bowl takes thirty seconds. That's less time than it used to take me to prewash/scrub the pots I used to use to cook rice before putting them in the dishwasher. What's more, the rice comes out perfectly and evenly cooked; the machine plays cute songs when starting and stopping the cooking process, making cooking seem a little less awful (I hate cooking); the timer function means I don't lose any sleep getting fresh rice ready at 5 AM when I pack my husband's lunch; and the mixed rice function lets me throw in bits of chicken or other items to be cooked at the same time. I couldn't be happier with this rice cooker and would recommend it to anyone who is considering a small cooker for their own family.
Why did I wait so long? October 2, 2008 DeeJayCee (Cambridge, MA) For years, I had one of those inexpensive rice cookers that always burned half the rice. I kept looking at this rice cooker, but didn't take the plunge for a few years--the cost made me hesitate. It's been worth every penny, and you shouldn't hesitate if you're looking to make smaller amounts. I've made all kinds of rice, as well as steel cut oats, and the quality is always superb. It's easy to use, program, and clean. Highly recommend!
Love this cute thing...! September 21, 2008 T. Mead (USA) I wanted a SMALL rice-cooker for my office, so I can eat lunch in a more healthy way and in a less expensive way. I like it a lot. I've made brown rice, white rice, and oatmeal in it. Someday soon I'll read the manual and figure out how to make the silly music go away. (I saw that that is do-able...) It plays twinkle twinkle little star or something, at various times, for various reasons, and I work in a library and this just won't do. It is sleek. It is gorgeous. I wish it didn't cost so much, but I'm SURE it's better and longer-lasting than a $30 or $40 alternative.
Great for Singles September 15, 2008 M. Oneal (Mobile, AL) I've always cooked rice on the stovetop and I never thought I would prefer the rice cooker to my tried and true method. However, my method doesn't work as well when a person is cooking just enough rice for one. If I cooked enough to get consistant results, I wasted too much. Also, I switched from an electric coil stove to a flat top, and every pot of rice boiled over. This cooker is the perfect solution. I can make just enough for me without sacrificing quality. It is very easy, and the brown rice is the best I've ever tasted. No boiled-over messes, extremely convenient and easy to clean while using very little counter space. I expect to use this cooker every day.
This is the BEST!! September 9, 2008 Candypantz (NY, NY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After burning out 3 pots trying, I quit making rice until I could find a cooker that was the right size (small), was easy to clean, and wouldn't break after 3 uses (National). When i saw the Zojirushi could also make steel cut oats I was sold. I have used it for 2 weeks and made sushi rice, white rice and steel cut oats. The timer is great! It has my breakfast ready and waiting when I wake up and comes out perfectly every time. The rice has also been flawless. I love the size (same size as my toaster) and the retractable cord. The bowl inside is non-stick, and removable making it a breeze to clean. This is a winner!! It is perfectly sized for singles or couples. I could not be happier! ps: Best steel cut recipe is 1:2.5 (oats to water), programmed on 'Porridge' setting.
