1 out of 5 stars Terrible Toaster for the money   August 15, 2008

I purchased this toaster (not on amazon) after I returned another brand name toaster that quit working after a few weeks of use. This one stinks also, it is still working if you can call it that, first of all toasts one side of the bread much more that the other (and no it is not set on the bagel setting). Totally inconsistant brownage with the numbered dial, for example if you set it on 3 sometimes it doesn't even get it brown and other times set on three it burns one side. Too much time has past to return it but i am so upset that i spent so much on this piece of junk. In this day and age it would seem like some company could make a decent toaster for a decent price. The only good thing about is that it looks good in my kitchen!!!

2 out of 5 stars Shoddy product, terrible company   August 15, 2008

My toaster lasted about three years before it started to burn everything which was long enough to forget who spent so much money for it (Crate and Barrel) for our wedding. When you do not have a receipt, the company counts the warranty (which is for three years) start date from the date of manufacture. When I gave them my serial number, they told me my toaster was five years old. Buy the cheapest toaster you can find. It will probably last 20 years. Buy this $60 one and expect it to last three years.

2 out of 5 stars Extremely inconsistent toaster   August 10, 2008

I received this toaster as a gift as it matches my kitchen. It looks GREAT in there. But as we know, looks aren't everything. For some reason, anytime I make toast, it comes out completely different, even though I never change the dial. The first batch is usually pretty good, with nice even toasting. But any other batches are a gamble. Just this morning, I made the perfect toast, then put in a couple more slices. These came out completely white, although toasted to the touch. I put them in again at the same setting, thinking "If they're white now, they'll be perfectly toasted the second time at this setting." Wrong - burned black. Maybe that was my own fault. Once, I hosted a breakfast at my house and every set of toast I made got less and less toasted. I tried barely moving the dial (It's usually at 1), but it just burned it. I don't understand why it's doing this, but it's very frustrating.

If you want a toaster that looks fabulous and expensive, with a couple of fancy buttons, this is it! If you want a toaster that makes consistently browned toast, I'd look elsewhere. My college cheap $8 toaster made better toast than this.

5 out of 5 stars Works great   August 4, 2008

I was able to grab one when they were in stock again, luckily, because I see they are out of stock again, the black chrome colored ones. Very nice, toasts nicely, look sharp.

5 out of 5 stars Great Simple Design--Toasts Evenly--Top of Line Toast Machine   July 28, 2008

After reading everyones reviews I have to say that this toaster has been nothing but a dream. Honestly I don't toast daily , but when I do the bread is very evenly toasted, the browning dial seems to be very accurate. I would say a 3 or a 4 is a perfect pitch. I have not stuck a bagel or god forbid a pop tart in this thing, but I am happy with what I got. When I was shopping around for a toaster I decided on this one for 1. Aesthetics, which I don't think there is a better more simple looking toaster around. This thing doesn't take up that much room on the counter and though it does get dirty easily, when you polish it, boy does it look regal. Besides, one should always polish their cherished appliances. Number 2. The quality name Cuisnart. Some people might argue that fact but I have been nothing but happy. You won't find a better looking, easy functioning toaster. Its worth the money. As mentioned it toasts fine and dandy. This thing has some power. Don't turn it up too high!
