Slowest Toaster Ever July 21, 2010 Margaret We've had this toaster for over a year and a half and I'm replacing it today. It's always taken a long time to toast a slice of bread. It started off toasting a piece in 2 minutes. Which isn't terrible unless you are making toast for more than 2 people. It's now taking right at 3 minutes on the highest setting and the bread is still coming out barely browned. It has always browned very unevenly with darker spots at the bottom and upper middle. The slots are fine if you only buy small loaves of bread but any kind of artisan breads have to be sliced in half to fit in.
It does work well on bagels but again, it takes a long, long time. If you have lots of time to wait around for a piece of toast then this is the one for you but if you cook for more than 2 people and don't like waiting forever, skip this toaster.
Great toaster July 18, 2010 Norminnj Have had the toaster for about 1 month and have never had a bagel toasted so perfect. Also tried different types of bread and they are perfect. Had heard that Kitchenaid was a great product and am now a believer.
Kitchen Aid Toaster July 7, 2010 david cairo Overall a nice toaster. A little pricey for what it is. Its just a toaster.
Noticeable improvement over our last toaster June 9, 2010 D. Selig (Mill Valley, CA USA) This KitchenAid works as advertised. Even toasting with good darkness control. The bagel feature is truly outstanding. It properly toasts the flat inner half while leaving the outer surface only slightly toasted. Outside remains spongy, the way I like my bagels. Great for English Muffins too if you put it on "bagel" mode. It's very sturdily built and, although we've only had it a couple months, it seems as if this will last for years.
A well made toaster June 9, 2010 Real E. Picky (East Texas) This is a solid, well made toaster. Much heavier than the ones you find in the discount stores. It is a straightforeward design with no fancy dials. You can toast bagels and warm pastry, using the button settings. Aside from that, it makes toast and does it well. It browns nicely without drying out the bread. A 5 setting is a good place to start. Homemade bread does take longer to brown. Just play with it a little and you will find the settings that suit your purpose. It is more expensive than most, but you get what you pay for. So far, I like it fine.
