Before bulb-style basters, cooks ladled hot juices over meat tilting a heavy pan as needed--a recipe for potential kitchen disaster. Trudeau's 11-piece basting set includes a souped-up model of the classic bulb-and-syringe baster made with extremely heat-resistant material. The set consists of a baster, two attachments, six lacing needles, cleaning brush, and storage box. The baster bulb is made of thick, heat-resistant rubber. Its tube is a clear, plastic cylinder graduated in 1/4-ounce increments. The tube end accepts two screw-on attachments: a broad-bladed spray nozzle for covering wider areas, and a needle for injecting basting fluid directly into meat. Six stainless steel lacing needles with eye-hook finials seal meat closed around stuffing. A three-foot length of kitchen twine is also included. The heat-resistant storage box is shaped to cradle the baster between rounds, and also holds attachments and lacing needles. The 9-inch cleaning brush has a tapered nylon-bristle head for reaching into the narrowest part of the baster tube. The baster--both bulb and tube--is dishwasher-safe. The long-handled cleaning brush can be used for hand washing or as a preliminary step to the dishwasher. Clean stainless steel lacer needles and attachments by hand in hot soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and air dry. The baster is 10 inches long, while the storage box measures 4-3/4 by 2 by 1-1/2 inches. I like this baster mainly because it is sturdy,washes easily, and does its' job. The attachments do make it easy to inject flavors into your piece of meat or bird or baste them. The included cleaner brush is very useful. The small storage container is great for keeping all the little stuff in one place. The fact that it doubles as a rest for the baster is a bonus.
For the price and what you get, this is a good deal!

The design of the basting set is good. But, the choice of material is bad. The rubber bulb as received is already aged especially around the area that grip the basting tube. Color between rings that grip the basting tube has changed and ready to separate if the bulb is pulled from the basting tube for cleaning.

I got mine from Amazon itself. It is very well made, and the injector attachment is nice. The sale price of $3.99 was a bit better, and at that price it's a "no-brainer".

OK, so it's hard to get excited about a baster. But this one is fantastic! Well built with attention paid to the small details (such as an "O" ring washer for each tip that ensures there are no leaks). The cleaning brush is perfect for getting all the oily crud out that the dishwasher can't. All in all, it would be hard to find a better baster at 10 times the cost.

The attachments on this baster make it a multi-functional tool! The needle tip is especially useful! Nothing better than a roast or bird that has its juices injected back into it rather than simply squirted on the skin!
