MIU Roasting Pan Does the Job December 19, 2007 D. Kaalund (New Jersey) MIU Stainless 12-Inch-by-18-Inch Covered RoasterBack in the day I only knew two things about cooking, using a Microwave and Boiling Water. I was hardly capable of doing those two things. With that I mind, back then, I reluctantly excepted a frozen turkey from a neighbor who herself had been given it. As I did not have a roasting pan, I simply purchased a disposable aluminum pan large enough to hold the bird and to reduce the splatter the turkey was cooked inside one of those plastic cooking bags. The result was acceptable. The experience didn't inspirer me to make me want to take up cooking, but I was pleased nonetheless. Nowadays I enjoy cooking. So I found it amusing that once again I've been handed a frozen turkey. With cooking now being my passion, I felt that I had to have a Covered Stainless Steel Roasting pan having a rack. Which led me to making this purchase. Upon unpacking it, the very first thing I noticed was the pan's very high luster. Both its exterior and interior had been polished to a mirror like finish. The oval shaped roasting pan is large enough to accommodate the largest turkey with its pan being over 4" deep and 12" wide inside dimensions. It's high dome lid was somewhat ill fitting slopping around inside the pan's lip. The roasting pan's material thickness perhaps is bit thin, with the pan it self having a raised center area presumably to gain strength. I would have liked for both the pan and its lid to have its edges rolled, again to strengthen them. Otherwise it's okay for oven use. No engraving for the name of manufacturer, country of origin or for the type of metal and grade can be found anywhere on the roasting pan. Documentation wasn't provided. The rack, which appears to be plated steel, offers hinged handles but I would have liked for the flat rack to elevate food higher within the pan. The rack sits shallow in the pan. I put in a greater effort preparing the bird this time around. The bird turned out very well. Cleaning the pan was easy. MIU roasting pan rocked it.
