Product Description
The Classic Toaster Oven Broiler allows consumers to choose from several cooking methods: conventional baking, toasting, or broiling. It comes with a slide-out crumb tray, 2-position oven rack baking/broiling pan, automatic shutoff, and a durable non-stick interior. The oven has a roomy .5 cubic foot capacity, large enough to bake a 5-pound chicken or 9-inch pie!

Amazon.com Review
Sleekly contemporary with a brushed-chrome exterior and tinted window, this toaster oven has a .5-cubic-foot capacity, large enough to roast a 5-pound chicken or toast six slices of thick bread. It can be used for baking pies, cookies, and casseroles; for broiling fish, steaks, and burgers; and for toasting bagels and English muffins as well as browning gratins and cobblers. Its nonstick interior wipes clean with a cloth and its rack (which fits in two positions) and broiler/baking pan are dishwasher-safe. Though the 1500-watt oven has a large capacity, it measures a compact 18 inches wide (including handles), 9-1/4 inches high, and 13-1/2 inches deep (including dial controls and a handy cord-wrap in the rear). The oven offers baking temperatures from 200 to 500 degrees F. There are three toast settings, with an automatic shutoff and an audible tone when toasting is completed. The toaster oven carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

4 out of 5 stars decent toaster oven   August 17, 2008
ANNIE (BERKELEY, CA)
I have gone through many toaster ovens over the years and have been disgusted that all except this one lasted less than 5 years. I liked the roominess and ease of operation of this toaster oven and it functioned for about 6 years before it finally stopped working correctly. It got to where it just wouldn't turn off unless it was unplugged.

1 out of 5 stars Went up in smoke   January 10, 2007

Like other reviewers on this and other listings for this item, mine also experienced problems with the controller in a little over 1 year of light use. It was set to oven on 350F for pre-heat and started producing blue smoke out the top vent. I took it apart to what happened. The control panel was burnt! Everything was perfectly clean inside so that wasn't what caused it. I would not recommend buying this toaster oven or even continue using it if you ualready have one.

5 out of 5 stars Going on 4 years the best toaster over I've owned.   December 20, 2006

I've had mine since early 2003 and it's been totally reliable. It's big enough to toast six pieces of bread (I regulary toast a motley combination of toast, bagels, and english muffins to satisfy my crowd). Like most toaster ovens the top side toasts a little darker than the bottom and the bottom shows wire marks. It doesn't bother me. I've had great success using it as an oven - indispensible for baking small items for the kids, like chicken nuggets. Once, when my main oven was on the fritz, I roasted a 3 pound rib roast in it. I wouldn't regularly do it (it gets grease all over the toaster oven) - but I did it successfully. This thing is easy to clean (pull out crumb tray), easy to set and use, and looks attractive with it's combo of black plastic, stainless steel and glass. That big glass door is functional too - you can easily see what's going on inside.

Downsides? Two. First, sometimes the toaster alarm will go off for no reason whatsoever. The solution is to take the unit out of "toast" mode and turn it to off. This happens maybe once every two months. It's not a big deal. Second - the unit gets hot (which shouldn't be a surpise). Just don't use it as a shelf for things like loaves of bread in plastic bags. The plastic will melt! Recommended.

2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   August 14, 2006

I bought this toaster oven to match the stainless appliances in my kitchen--not the best criteria to use! First, the temperature is significantly hotter than indicated on the temp. dial. I consistently set it 50 degrees cooler than a recipe calls for. Secondly, you have to move the rack to a different position each time you want to go from baking to toasting or vice-versa. I didn't think this was a big deal at first either, but it gets to be a pain--and it wasn't necessary with my Black & Decker. I also did not like the size. This thing takes up a lot of counter space. I would probably put up with that aspect if I was getting good performance but that is not the case.

3 out of 5 stars Disappointing   July 6, 2006

It was a terrific little oven for about 7 months and then one day it just didn't turn on. No warning, like fluctuating temperature or uneven toasting...just died. We are very disappointed because Cuisinart has a reputation for good products. Guess they'd better stick to food processors.
