1 out of 5 stars This is a pretty terrible toaster   September 5, 2008

Ditto all the other bad reviews. I put this on my Crate & Barrel wedding registry because it was the more expensive of the two they carried at the time. Why on earth is Crate & Barrel still selling this thing? It toasts totally unevenly -- I am writing this as I eat yet another piece of toast that is crispy on the top and soggy on the bottom. The first thing you toast takes forever, and then if you put something else in after it's already hot, it burns in three seconds. Terrible!

5 out of 5 stars Beautiful and Intuitive   August 19, 2008

I have had several new toaster ovens in the recent past (I have been looking for just the right one) and this will be the last one. It is a keeper. It is beautiful, and the knobs are intuitive to use--not crazy electronic knobs that you have to read the manual to figure out what they mean. It is high quality, and works well. It is a little large compared to other toaster ovens (may take up too much space on the counter in some kitchens) but I love it!

4 out of 5 stars Good Little Oven   August 19, 2008

It bakes, it broils, it toasts. It's just like a miniature copy of a range oven. It preheats quickly and cooks evenly.
The only thing I can fault is the limit of 30 minutes on the shut-off timer. An hour would be a better time limit.

1 out of 5 stars Stopped working 2 weeks after the 1 year warranty expired   August 16, 2008

Plus, it takes a long 7 minutes to toast, and you have to watch it carefully so that it doesn't burn. Overall, a poor buy - move on to the next choice.

4 out of 5 stars Don't Understand the Problem   June 29, 2008

I finally purchased this item, inspite of the negative reviews, because my good old toaster finally gave out. The paint is not chipping. It's sits squarely on the counter and it's a sturdy solid machine. It toasts and broils chicken just fine. I haven't tried baking with it yet. One warning I would add is in agreement with the person who mentioned how easily the rack slips out. Yes, it does! So what I do is take an oven mit in my left hand and hold on to the tray while sliding it out. I've also taken to using a pair of bamboo tongs to flip and remove food items. Works just fine and you won't get burned or try to grab that tray with bare hands if it starts to slip. So this is an oven, it gets hot, it ain't no two slice toaster. Give it plenty of room on your counter top and you two will get along fine.
