"Don't judge a toaster by its cover..." September 8, 2008 J. Mayberry (Kelseyville, CA United States) HORRIBLE! This looks sexy but does an awful job of making toast. The problem is that it does not toast the bread on both sides of the slice. When you look inside the slots you can see that the elements become cherry red on one side and barely glow on the other. It's the same in all four slots. It drives me nuts every day when I have to flip my toast around to brown the opposite side, causing it to become dried out more than toasted. I've learned to put up with 1/2 toasted bread in most cases. The silver lining is that it works well for my 2 yr old who is beginning to think he likes toast but doesn't like that hard, dry feeling on his tongue. I butter and jam or cinnamon sugar the toasted side for him so the soft side hits his mouth and it goes down better. The cheap toasters I've gotten in the past from the hardware store (Proctor Silex and Toastmaster, with Toastmaster being the best) have been far superior to the Cuisinart.
Cusinart 4-slice toaster review July 20, 2008 Michael L. Shilko (Missouri) The toaster does a good all around job of toasting over the light to dark range, and it is fairly fast.
Only toasts one side of bread. July 20, 2008 Unhappy customer (Arizona) Thought that Cuisinart was a quality brand, was I ever fooled. It would not toast one side of the bread in any of the slots. I tried the defrost setting and the bread went up in smoke. This toaster should be recalled as it works so poorly.
The WORST toaster I ever purchased April 26, 2008 Zoe Ann This is the first time that I have felt compelled to leave a product review. If I could have given it zero stars, I would have done so. I purchased this toaster, took it home, plugged it in, and inserted the bread. When I pushed the lever down, it popped right back up. I tried the other side; the same thing happened. Neither of the levers would stay down, and the heating elements, of course, never came on. I returned it for another one. That toaster did appear to work until the toast popped up and only one side of the bread was toasted. Back that one went, and I brought home a third one (No one can say that I didn't give it a fair shot!) Now the THIRD toaster did the same thing. That was it for me. I took it back, and now I'm researching toasters! Sheesh! Who would think that you would actually have to research a toaster! Several years ago, I purchased a 4-slice Phillips toaster from Target on amazon.com for $29.99, and that was the best toaster we ever had. If Phillips still made it, I would buy another one.
Doesn't work!! April 15, 2008 super reader 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is probably the worst toaster I've ever had.....it would only toast one side of the bread while leaving the other side just warm; or one side toasted and the other side burned. I went back to my 20 year old GE which does a better job toasting than this one!!
