A good-looking alternative to the small butter plate, this two-piece rectangular butter/cream cheese dish will hold your favorite spread expertly. Its shiny stainless-steel cover will keep contents cool and fresh. Its white porcelain base is a basin with an overhanging lip shaped to accommodate the cover without allowing slippage. The basin eliminates drips, oozings, and other melting mishaps. You can put this super tool in the dishwasher, too, but be warned that the stainless-steel cover attracts fingerprints. --Teri Kieffer
