Product Description This is one handy measuring cup! Pyrex can be used in a microwave oven and so you may find this is the perfect vessel for heating stock or soup. It's equipped with a new read from above feature, as well as big bold US-only measurments. The lid has four positions: open (for pouring/venting), holes (for sprinkling/sifting), closed (for storing), and slots (for straining).

Something Worth 5 Stars At Last November 29, 2008 Peter J. Brown (Berrien Springs, MI) As a single male trying to negotiate simplicity for a reason, I purchased this Pyrex Prepware Measuring 4-Cup for just one accurate purpose: measuring. As it would turn out, after the fact of course, I remembered I don't know how to cook so measuring had become yet another non-essential I've accumulated. If I'd only listened to those THREE NOSY FROGS ON A LOG on the red oak log just outside my door along the path! But if I were to ever measure, I'd want to measure accurately and you most definitely can do that with this Pyrex Prepware--like a long-legged female beauty in a Speedo swim suit, it's easy on the eyes; and just as important as easy is, it's made of glass and NOT what might later be discovered as some mysterious causing carcinogen leached out of its body when it reacts by the application of high heat with acids, as in tomatoes or fruit. I love my pyrex glass! And you should too. Thank goodness for ingenuity triumphing over purpose! I prepare a lot of soups and often I like to add my own assortment of frozen vegetables. And if I'm really hungry I'll open two cans and not just one! I can put everything I desire into this, not including the spyder found after-the-fact soliciting where it didn't belong, put it in the microwave and get it nice and hot and it won't boil over! And when its done gurgling I can grab it by its handle, and by the way it really likes that! and enjoy some delicious almost-homemade soup! And not only that, you have two ways to Slurp: by the spoon (and make sure its big) or by the accurate pouring spout that'll never miss a big mouth! Imagine that!! The only thing it didn't come with was Love. But then again I didn't expect to be buying that. So if you have someone who would love to share your Pyrex cup, you're as rich as Solomon was with just one wife and a lot richer than me, so enjoy this blessing while you can as you dive into one of the simplest of Life's pleasures time and time again with this marvelous creation of glass called Pyrex!!!! p.s. I also bought the 8-Cup Pyrex Measurer-- at the same time! IT'S A SOUP-LOVER'S DREAM COME TRUE! You can knock off both lunch AND dinner with this puppy!
Lid does not seal-not airtight June 22, 2008 McG' (San Diego, California) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have 3 pyrex measuring cups. I bought this one bec I make my own salad dressing every 2 days and store the rest in the fridge. I got tired of wasting saran wrap to cover. Naturally you would buy the cup with the lid to keep things fresh. Unfortunately, this is not even close to airtight. The "seal part" goes straigt down the glass and does not seal off the outside air. And it does not keep other smells from creeping in. The spout on the glass is good for pouring. The lid is something else to wash. It is useless.
Good addition to my glass measuring cups. May 8, 2008 Heather McGraw (Surprise, AZ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This cup nests well with my batter bowl and one and two cup measuring cups. The lid so far had stayed true to fit. It pours well and stains freshly squeezed juice sufficiently.
Pyrex is the best March 20, 2008 aar! (Phoenix, AZ USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
After receiving this 4-cuper w/lid I ordered the 1 & 2 cupers w/lids. Great for microwaving stuff with lid in place. Far superiour to the plastic types.
inaccurate, but great for mixing & pouring January 4, 2008 mauserati (Oakland, CA USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I checked the calibration against a scientific beaker and the Pyrex is almost 2 ounces short for 4 cups; none of the marks were accurate. It's great for mixing batter (heavy enough to stay put on the counter) and the pour spout & lid are very useful. Of course, there's sentiment: my mother used Pyrex exclusively. (The bowls were avocado! & the casseroles a gold floral pattern.) However, if you need accurate measures, try oxo or another brand.
