Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Krups calls it their Expert waffle maker, a handsome appliance that looks unlike any other waffle maker you've ever seen before. The elongated unit makes two large waffles that are a full 1.25-in. deep. An adjustable thermostat can be raised to a higher setting for waffles that are crunchy and crispy; turn the thermostat down and you can use it to re-heat already made waffles without over-browning the second go-round. The cooking plates are removable and dishwasher-safe for ease of cleaning. The stainless exterior is durable, and the insulated handle keeps hands cool and collapses to allow for convenient storage. At the bottom is a nonstick drip tray to catch any batter that spills over during cooking. A red light indicates the power is on; a green light illuminates when the initial cooking temperature is reached. 7.5 x 11.25 x 8-in.

Amazon.com Review
This unusual rotating waffle maker is sure to elicit admiration from brunch guests. Made of brushed stainless steel with black accents, the unit not only looks elegant but cooks professionally. After ladling the batter into the deep nonstick bottom plate, the top is firmly closed. After ten seconds, by means of the insulated handle, the waffle maker is rotated upside down and allowed to cook for the remainder of the required time (recipes and times are included in the user guide). The result: two perfect 1-1/4-inch-thick Belgium waffles, crisp on the outside, moist on the inside. A dial features variable browning settings, and two lights indicate when the waffle maker is on and when to add batter. Two curved fixed legs keep the maker upright and a drip tray fits between them to collect any batter overflow. A release button on the handle allows it to collapse for storage. Measuring 7-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches, the cook plates can be wiped clean or conveniently removed and placed in the dishwasher. With the handle collapsed, the waffle maker measures 13 by 8-1/2 by 9-1/2 inches and is covered by a one-year warranty. --Ann Bieri

4 out of 5 stars Great Buy   May 8, 2008

I am so happy with this waffle maker. It is so easy to use and the waffles come out crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. I still have not mastered the correct amount to put in to get the perfect waffle but even the off-shape ones are great. I do agree with several of the other reviews, a timer would be a great addition to this product.

5 out of 5 stars Great waffle maker   May 6, 2008

This makes great tasting waffles. Maybe not quite as good as the Waring model, and I think I prefer round to square, but I love that you can remove the waffle plates and wash them in the dishwasher. `

This is the fourth waffle maker that I have owned over the years. One I gave away, one is part of a sandwich/waffle maker unit, and the other is a belgian waffle maker by Black & Decker that is on its last leg of the journey after many years of use and improper cleaning methods! After experiencing such positive results with the combo unit T-Fal SM601003 Avante Nonstick Sandwich/Waffle Maker which has removeable plates, I knew I wanted a waffle maker with this feature.

I usually make 10 - 12 waffles for my husband to take to work on the weekends which would be a long process with my other belgian waffle maker because after the fifth or sixth one, it seemed to steam more than bake so I would have to let it cool down and start over. Not so with this one. I cranked out 12 waffles with no trouble. Some of the waffles came out evenly browned on both sides while others were even on one side with a couple of lighter patches on the other. However, none of these were rejected by anyone! I ate the first one that came out. The waffle was crispy on the outside and pancake tender on the inside with deep pockets that held up to the syrup and butter. For that, it deserves and gets five stars!

The other advantage to this waffle maker is the adjustable temperature setting. I settled on 6, which produced the crispiest waffle, with a cook time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds. A timer would have been a nice addition to the waffle maker, but I just set the one on the microwave as I've always done so its no big deal.

Other nice features include the drip pan to accommodate over filling the plates, and the folding handle which is a plus when storing the unit. The removeable plates which were the selling point for me make clean up a breeze. Let the machine cool, pop out the plates and either hand wash or stick in the dishwasher.

The Krups waffle maker makes fairly large waffles and is not a small unit so if space is a concern, keep that in mind.

4 out of 5 stars Finally!! Waffle maker works great and is so easy to clean!   April 17, 2008

I had never owned a waffle maker until three years ago. My children love waffles and I used to buy the frozen kind (sorry!) Then I got on this health kick and stopped buying them because they had partially hydrogenated vegetable oil and were pretty unhealthy.

The other two waffle makers I owned were sooooo messy and hard to clean. The waffles were soggy and one of them just broke down on me. They were both in the $20 to $30 range. I did a lot of research and chose this one because the other highly rated one in the same price range had a lot of complaints about it breaking down after a year or so whereas this one's main complaint was that there was no timer.

I just received it 2 days ago and have already used it twice. My kids love the waffles! It is very easy to use and very easy to clean (believe me, I know!) I highly recommend this waffle maker. The only reason for 4 stars is that the plates a bit hard to get out at first until you figure out how to do it.

4 out of 5 stars Just a Little Less than Perfect....   March 29, 2008

Despite all the negative reviews about this product, I decided to go ahead and order it. I have not been unhappy with my decision. The folding handle is a really great idea for storage and also for transporting the waffle iron . The only real downside to this product is that it does not heat evenly. I had read that comment in previous reviews, but decided it was not bad enough to keep me from purchasing it. I still feel that way. Most of my waffles come out unevenly cooked, but it doesn't keep them from tasting good. I use this waffle iron at my church to prepare waffles on Sunday morning for a non-profit coffee shop that I manage. Everyone loves the waffles it produces. It took me awhile to figure out how to get the plates out of the machine, but now I can't believe I ever had a problem.

All in all, I'm very satisfied and hope this machine continues to keep me happy by turning out excellent waffles.
