Good for power outages September 15, 2008 SidG (The Rocky Mountains, USA) Provides a decent (not great) amount of light, good enough for sitting around a table during a power outage. Radio works pretty well. Good for backup during a power outage or for outdoors use.
Rechargeable - great, crank power - a disappointment August 25, 2008 Susan Tucker (Chico, CA United States) I think its a nice little lantern - compact, good radio and the light is decent. I bought one after a power outage at the beginning of this year and I've been using it on a daily basis since it arrived. I love my garrity crank flashlight but I am disappointed in the lantern. The lantern runs a long time off a charge but takes a lot of cranking to keep even a dim light once the battery runs down. Then the little knob broke off the crank so now its just a rechargeable. I think it can be fixed but haven't followed up on that yet.
Hard to Crank August 15, 2008 M. Sullivan Not bad for an emergency light, but the crank is very uncomfortable to use, especially if you have to use the crank for any length of time.
GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY June 13, 2008 R. MACKEY (Stockton, CA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I purchased this lantern after reading a review of another lantern on the Gadgeteer. My aim was to get a lantern for power outages and to take along on car trips. So far I have used it for a backyard BBQ when light was scarce. It worked great. I have also used the radio for patio listening. This little light is great! Lightweight, bright, has a built in hook, radio, crank and battery power, plus AC charging. I leave it plugged in and the red L.E.D.s provide a nice night light. I would buy this again and recommend it highly.
Not very practical May 29, 2008 Futon Customer (United States) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
In terms of practical use in blackout/emergency conditions, this lantern didn't work well for me. Although the radio is very good sound quality, the lantern isn't very bright to light a room in a blackout, and also only lasts for 6 minutes on a 1 minute crank. Since we were out of power all night, it got really tiring to crank every 5 minutes.
